Mr. Pass would mind explaining how this feature is implemented. My wife started to complain about electrical bill as well and I usually have my amps on all day.😉
Ah, but at least in the winter you can turn down the heat
a bit when the amps are running. 🙂

However, when I turn around and buy $300 worth of heatsinks she becomes confused, upset, and hurt.![]()
I could see how that would be a problem. 😀
Speaking of heatsinks, has anyone found a good place to buy heatsinks. mmmetals has some, but the good profiles are only available for large orders, since they just sell stock on hand for small orders.
It would be nice to organize a group buy of heatsinks, since the group buy for pcbs was soo big.
Any suggestions on where to obtain heatsinks?

How many of those caps you were looking for?

I was thinking of using 4.

Brian, the only heatsinks that IMO would be worth messing with are Peter's R-Theta, that is simply the best profile, it comes anodized and all finished up and ready to go. Unfortunately they cost $$$mucho dinero$$$. I wonder if a mass order would bring the price down some.
Dennis, I went there yesterday and bought last six. I can sell you 2 if you are interested. It's still more than enough for stereo amp.

I also agree that those are the best heatsinks around. If you guys are interested, I can organize a group purchase, since I'm looking for heatsinks as well. Just let me know. A piece 11" x 11" anodized black was CAD100. For you, living in States it's peanuts. With a group purchse the price would drop down probably.

Good that women do nothing (in general) understand of DIY-Audio parts prices - with clothes this wouldn`t be so easy working...
Cocolino, I do sincerely hope she isn't looking over your shoulder... or secretely checking all your posts!
Otherwise

Now, we're talking 🙂
I'm game.

I'm definitely interested. My friend who wants to build the
2 ohm Aleph-X's will need serious heatsinks as well.
Which R-theta profile is it, BTW?

If a group purchase for these is organized, I would like to purchase 4, maybe more if the price drops. Can you see if you can get prices for a large group order?
It appears to be the same as this extension from Aavid:

What is the size you are looking for? My amp's rails are 15V and 6A total current (per channel) and two 11" x 11" heat sinks per channel are just about right.

11" x 11" seems like a perfect size. They look a lot nicer then the mmmetals heatsinks.

For Europeans I recommend using the one that I used for my Zen R but in 100 mm length which is KS300.6 from Austerlitz which reaches 0.3 C/W already at 100 mm length and has slightly longer fins than the R-Theta. If you like 9" then KS216 from Austerlitz which is the same as SK 102 from Fischer is almost the same measures as the R-theta:
