I managed to find those torobars without to much problem (my german must be improving).

The idea of shipping four of these halfway around the world sounds expensive but ill contact them for prices.

Thinking of using two EI transformers with chokes and caps in separate box, a few feet away from pcbs and fets Q:looking at galleries of finished pojects and none of these have separated the PSU... Its got me thinking Is this idea a good one?:worried:

Someone had inquired on the previous page about having remote power supplies for amps. Obviously, it's common in low power pieces like preamps and such, but rare in amps. Why? Because of the current levels required. The current requirements of amps typically run multiple orders of magnitude higher than those of preamps. Assuming that you want to be able to connect and disconnect the circuit and power supply easily, you'll find that suitable connectors aren't cheap.
If you're willing to bolt and unbolt cables to connect and disconnect the circuit and power supply, things suddenly get much simpler and cheaper, albeit somewhat less convenient.
Granted, amps aren't as prone to trouble as low level circuitry, but every little bit helps. It's just a question of how much trouble you're willing to go to.

My first post in this thread.
I just finished reading through the 2636 posts. I mainly post this to help reaching 500.000 views. In order to have some relevance and hopefuly generate some more posts and biews, I might as well ask a question too:

Does anybody have an idea how to design an Aleph-X so that you can raise rail voltage and lower bias with the flick of a switch? I was thinking of having a way of choosing between optimal setup for 4 ohm or 8 ohm load respectively...

It's possible to do this, but I think that you'll find that it's more trouble than it's worth. You're going to drastically change all the operating parameters when you change the rail voltage. The DC offset will have to be resettled each and every time you do this...might be best to go for a DC servo to reduce the fiddle factor.
It goes without saying that you will not want to change the rail voltage with the amp running.
