I like to hear from anyone who has created a sealed extension to make the TABAQ taller whilst keeping the quarter wave dimensions. The reason is my listening position is on the bed. I plan to fill the extension with sand.
What do I lose in doing so?

If the speakers are against the wall behind, you won't lose much in terms of bass extension.
Just do a quick search with the term "sand" and you'll have some posts regarding that.

You might lose some boundary reinforcement from the floor depending on how high they are extended but that is dependent on the floor covering, if any. If you have carpeting then you probably won't notice it.
Regarding the sand, you can use playground sand if you have a local supplier in Singapore; otherwise, beach sand would suffice. Just make sure the sand is clean and dry. Some folks will dry it in the oven at a low temperature just to be sure. My personal preference for weighting is #9 lead shot sealed in epoxy but that is more expensive than sand.

Over here, it is illegal to collect sand from the beach, so you might have to look into that.
I know it's not much sand, but if a zealous law officer passes by at the same time you are collecting it... well...

Lol, of course. We can purchase sand for filling speaker stands.
@Perceval, what is the 4” TB driver would you recommend that I can find in PE? Most of the ones which were used in the earlier threads are no longer available.

I searched and found 3 4”: W-4 1052SD (which Perceval used but needs 2 eq notch filters) or the W4-1337SDF or W4-1337SD, which I did not see any sims done by Bjorn.
Will either W4-1337SDF/SD solve the shortcomings of the 1052SD? TIA.

You might want to look at the Faitals. Check post 2115
Looks like the simple BSC is enough to keep the trebles at bay with that driver.
But I haven't tried it personally.

I was thinking about them but was thinking of the hassle of adding an extra baffle front to hide the mounting is a little less aesthetically pleasing.
How do we apply the sealant on the all the seams? I realize that there will be one side which we can't do it. This engineer is thinking about building while on the way to work. ;-)
In post 2117, the question is asked about putting 2 drivers in a TABAQ. What happens if the 2 drivers are installed in a normal size TABAQ? Not doubling the size....
Dewdrop,
You could use a donut shaped foam (supra-baffle) to cover the mounting tabs.
The last panel can be attached via screws and stripped sealed, for example the back panel.
Or, glued in place with silicone or glue like Titebond. That would seal it well.
Having the back panel on with screws will let you adjust the stuffing inside to taste, and play with different values BSC.

Nothing like hands on experience....
Got HornResp?
Fire it up, make an enclosure fit for one driver, then go ahead and click on 2 drivers in series or parallel. See the resulting graph.
Thanks Perceval!Dewdrop,

I pulled my TABAQs out of the corner this morning to listen to them. It still amazes me how good and how big a 3.5" driver can sound. These are Dayton PS95-8 drivers.
I have a pair of TangBand W4-1337SD drivers I think I'll try. They might need a bit of taming up top, but I'd like to see how they sound. These drivers have been used in the TABAQ, correct?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi
This is a different model, but you could use it as a pretty good guideline.

Thanks Bjorn!
Tabaq with Tang Band W5-2143
Hello everyone.
I am a rookie here so please show some understanding if my questions sound funky.
I have been through much of this thread looking for my first speaker build.
I've decided to go for the Tabaq with Tang Band W5-2143, using the simulation kindly provided by Bjorn, #2224 (thank you so much! Amazing work and support of this project ).
There is a question about the parameters of the driver, as the factory provided differ from those counted by XRK 971 -> Decware DNA Horn
This question has been asked, but I couldn't find an answer so if Bjorn or anyone informed would be so kind, could you please clarify it?
Has the simulation taken into account the XRK's measured parameters or the manufacturer's?
Would it make much of a difference anyway?
Can I build the speaker according to the simulation of Bjorn and hope for the best or would it be better the TL to be remodeled to account for the actual parameters?
In that case I would be stuck, as I can't do that, hoping Bjorn would be so kind as to help resolve the matter.
Another question is about BSC, would this have to be adapted to the TB W5-2143 driver and/or box layout or could the standard used in the original design be adequate? I guess that it mostly depends on the final layout of the box, on which I am working and would be different than W3/W4 Tabaq's box.
Any input would be gratefully appreciated!

Thanks Bjørn,
When you have a minute, if you can, would you take a look at the TB W6-2313?
What do the MJK files say about this driver?
Looks like a fun driver, and it is also very beautiful to look at.
W6-2313 - 6.5” Paper Coaxial Full Range - TB SPEAKER CO., LTD.
Bjorn? If/when you have a chance could you check this one out? I’d also appreciate a look at the TB W6-2144, essentially the bigger brother to the W5-2143.
