with the low Qts the boltons dont look half bad. the high Qts of the Peerless screams aperiodic boxes (even TL could do) what about a dipole ot push push TL (dave are you listening 🙂 )
Insect attack problems.
Remember that the Peerless India coating on the cone attracts insects.
My driver has its surface nibbled at by insects as it was in storage for along time. It also has a few pin holes ! Cannot use it as a TL. As a dipole it will not be visible , so its OK. Note that several other drivers kept along with this one ( different brands) did not have any problems !
Cheers.

Transporting will be a bother and expensive too. I do not think it is worth the trouble. Thanks a lot for the offer Ashok.
Woofer for tea.
Yes Navin, you can have the Bolton woofer for tea ! Vivek does not want it. I don't need it , I have to throw it away. I have so many other drivers that people at home are screaming . If you want this driver to experiment with I can bring it along when I come to Mumbai soon.Let me know.
I also have two NHT1259's and two 12 inch XLS drivers which are not yet boxed . These are not up for grabs!
Cheers.

I didn't have the patience to read this whole thread, but in response to the original question, there is a web page with some parameters for "Peerless India" drivers posted here:

Navin ...doubt....
my understanding was, TL's perform better if the Qts is extremely low... Is that not so...!
Is this the driver the S25NP from PI
i had recieved a Spec sometime bk (measured on MLSSA)...
thot a comparison wud be interesting,...
Fs 23.79
Re 3.13
Qms 38.52
Qes 0.34
Qts 0.31
Vas 126
Mms 65.31gms
Cms 685 um/N
Bl 9.51
spl 92.9
If this is infact the driver in question the deviation of Vas and Qts is quite something....
A novice Q... if the specs are so much off track...what is the guarentee that if i built a stereo pair(with unmatched T/S), they will sound similar...!! Will the T/S be uniform within a batch or will they vary drastically even within the same batch...?

the woofer for tea was a joke on the coating of teh PI woofer. i have my wife threating to throw me out if i bring home another speaker.
I almost got killed aq few days back when i suggested spending more on the TV than she spent of the flooring. Right now I am trying to manupilate that so the woofer will only complicate matters.
maybe on another trip to mumbai. mostly i would build it into a box for my nephew. he listens to music that needs as much bass as he can lay his hands on.
I use 4 Audio Concepts 12" woofers for my system. This is a step down from the 2 JBL 2245s (B460) I was using earlier. However I value my life and my wife threatened to bury me in the 460 box if i did not loose them.
i am now considering a small woofer for another system. This woofer would need 2 12" in a sealed isobarik box to keep volume to a min. so if you come across something i can use let me know.

Free?-nah not me !
It is a bit surprising to find that it is so hard to give away something free !
So the driver is being given away to the paper man who collects all the old papers. I wanted it to be used by someone who would like to have it - and so, not go to waste. But I guess it has to go to waste after all! What a pity. No more free offers from me.
Cheers.

Hi,
I'm new to the forum. Really surprised to see so many DIY'ers, actually DIE-HARD DIY'ers, here in India.

Normally I would take it. Dont feel bad. I appreciate the offer and the thought. Maybe you can make a sub for the car.
Hey! hey! Ashok. It was very nice of you to offer it. But turning it down was never meant to upset you. Thanks a million again.

Upset - me?
Hi ,
I am not upset about the "Bolton deal". Just surprised that no one wanted it.
Cheers.

T/S parameters for Indian Driver
Here are some of the T/S parameters I measured a while ago for the Bolton range.
...........10HM2........12LPM22.....16SJW21......20LPW22
Fs........92 ………........76 ……………...41………………..32
Re.......3.1...............6.4...............3.7..............6.8
Qms....4.04.............2.42.............2.8..............4.26
Qes.....0.45.............0.5...............0.59............0.87
Qts......0.4...............0.41.............0.49............0.72
Vas(L)...3.................4.3...............17...............52
I have not taken any measurements on the 10-12” Bolton drivers. I am surprised to find the Qts value of 0.39 from Ashok’s findings for the 10”Bolton driver.
If Ashok was in Delhi I would have picked up his free woofer offer, that is if his paperwallah is not already enjoying 30 Hz stimuli.
Anyone know whether one can get 3-4 mm T nuts in India, no one has heard of T nuts in Delhi. I believe you get 6mm T nuts in Bangalore
