SX-Amp and NX-Amp

Have to get some mounting bits together.. The chassis is very good quality but wonder if the power switch is a little weak..

Hi,

Testing the power supply..

1) SSLR is not engaging
2) I have +50V on Collectors of Q6 and Q7
3) I have 0V on pin 1 and 3 - J10
4) 0.7V on Q3 Gate - this is wrong
I short the drain of Q3 to 0V, and SSLR engages..

I'll keep looking, any suggestion will be appreciated.. going to look at U1 next

I just noticed that on the circuit diagram in the nx-Amplifier write-up, I have Q9 and Q10 shown with the old, incorrect parts.

The correct partsc are

Q9 = BC546B
Q11 = BC556B

The BOM is CORRECT.

I have updated the circuit to reflect the correct values.

I Have correct Q9 and 11.. Thanks!

Note: PS circuit Diagram, shows R6 as 330K.. BOM is 100K for R6..
I used 100K..

Bonsai, sorry, my mistake the hole is there, it is filled in with the finish coating.. The Board is fine..

Turns out, U2 is wrong.. Examined the Case Markings and my Archived Bom and found a mistake.. I have to order U2 again..

U2 arrived.. Digikey is fast..😉

Power supply checks are finished, and everything works as is should..

Moving on, to testing and setup.. Hope to listen to this amp soon..

Bonsai,

Do you have some PCBs or gerber for just the speaker protection using SSLR? Something like the PSU from NX but just the speaker protection part?

I want to replace the ones in other projects that I already own for better ones. I have relays for speaker protection... With very high current they could stick and not even disconnect the load.

Thanks
Do

Well... Let me put if this way... Bryston is a very good product but I never really liked their sound signature as I find it grainy and it is not something that appeal to me. It is a personal taste so please no hate comments.. 😀

That said, I definitely prefer the NX amplifier

Thanks
Do

Glad you feel this way, about NX.. I'm not a Bryston fan either... Owned many because of easy availability..
