Here ya go, this setup was just for testing purposes so excuse the slightly ghetto nature of it!

That's not ghetto, this is ghetto! 😛

The surepath board is in there. I was using this rig for testing purposes and got lazy. So it's staying there for now until I have time to fix it all up. I'm way too embarrassed to show you the train wreck inside... 😛
phresh said:Hah, thats awesome! You should get a Mega CD 2 for the power supply case!!
Hah that would be great. I'm thinking of making a DAC with a nintendo case. And use a PS1 as a CD player. Should be an interesting setup.
Oh and Open Baffle speakers painted to look like arcade machines. But that might be going to far 😛
Spent a day hard at work sticking the modified arjen t-amp in a proper chassis. As you can see it's got the inductors and improved input and power supply caps along with an extra 20'000 uf after the power supply.
All connectors will be wired directly to the board using silver coated copper wire. Only intend on doing this once so might as well do it properly!!
The picture shows half the amp, the final amp will be symmetrical for use as a 4-channel power amp.

Looking good.
I tried my sure boards out yesterday, both to try out my version of Albins power mod again. Just to make sure I was not imagining the improvement.. Newsflash. The improvement stands, even under better testing conditions.
I also tried out bi-amping the sure boards. I like it, though i heard less than a difference moving from bi-amped sure boards compared to bi-amping gainclones. Not sure why that is?

PS spot the skynet smps... I am sad!

Hi all, just found these forums. Just completed installing one of these boards into an OmniFi DMS-1 music streamer (bought at Tuesday Morning for $5.00). Hooked up to some old Realistic Minimus 7's I had gathering dust in the shed. I had been using a Sonic Impact T24 on this (Bose SoundDock clone), but this setup has much better separation, and much better highs. I'll post pix if anyone wants a look.
Reading through this thread, looks like I may need to do a few mods to the board, though I don't notice any clicking at powerup that would signal DC offset.
Anyway, this looks like a very inexpensive way to get a Tripath amp, complete with power supply and even some small full-range speakers:
http://www.stootsi.com/store/item.aspx?item=55407721
$20.99 shipped! It looks a lot like my Sonic Impact T24, but it's for the PSP, not the iPod. My local Fry's also has a bunch of these (in the PSP section) for $35.

hi blair, hi dweekie
great website update blair, glad you heard an improvment, have you tried it without adding extra farads.that could be one thin amp.
dweekie, perhaps we're all MAD,Your explanation for the reason the fix works is absolutely spot on,it's all down to the finite resistance of a circuit boards tracks,it may be very small but it affects the sound, thats what I love about listening,
try some Stockhausen, makes me larff after a tinny or two
regards

Thanks for the complliments on the update. I have a little more coding to do... Can you believe that I had never programmed before in CSS and HTML untill this past weekend?
I'm kinda sorry that I never tackled it before, its incredibly good fun. Just like audio electronics, you make your tweek then instantly you get the chance to see/hear the fruits of your labour...
I twigged about the circuit resistance making the difference. When I get round to modding the rest of the boards I reckon that I will beef up the entire power line with some extra copper. See if there is any more to take from this area.
The extra caps made little difference to the sound, so they could probaby be omitted

hello
hah 3 posts in a row,now even I know I`m an utter nutter, anyway they all went down to about 50uf,so I stuck on bigger replacements, where did the amazing bass go,sweeter top

Can we Transform Board TA2024 of Arjen by using Power Supply + - GND ? If yes, can you teach me how to do that because i really need to use this + - GND Power Supply
but for this pic. i had do it like this and the sound had come out from headphone and Speaker which i had use the same battery as the first pic. also
In my opinion, the battery should be a problem. This could be from electronice system or ground. Please help me out. Please Please Please^^

No need for the headphone amp
Yeah that's right^^ but i would like to have AD797 to be my pre-amp b/c i love their sound soooo much
I want both of them to be with me everywhere i want to.
Hello
After some absence from this thread, I am back.
I must report, that I use my surelectronics amp together with my computer and Fostex FE83E recommended enclosures,
without any buffer
just a poti in front of the amplifier. All buffers I tried degraded the sound by some way.
So, I correct my older posting and my opinion.
A buffer is not needed, even when using a poti in front of the amp.
BTW: did you see the new Cityspot TA-2024 amp on www.diykits.com.hk ? (Click on the left side on CITYSPOT and you'll see the details)
The board looks very nice: trimmer potis, good caps everywhere, good chokes and a lot of space for better input caps (ERO is nice, but is MKT the perfect choice?).

Hi Franz.
I agree with you. Following your previous advice, I've tried a couple of buffers and preamps, they were degrading the sound of the Sure board.
Apparently, a good pot wil do best with the ta2024 sure board.
