Sure Electronics Tripath boards?

Inputs,

Hi there Dayyan,

Im not sure if i understand what you mean with similar in an outputs.

Ofcource you can use your connectors of choice with an amplifier, the connector itself should not change the sound.

The connector on the PCB is a small plastic one, i suggest you solder wires to the 3 pads and connect those wires to what ever connector you prefer.

The input signal is maximal 2 volts Peak to peak

The output signal you connect to the loudspeakers.

hope this helps.

Greetings,

Arjen

I have one of these boards which I have successfully modded. Everything was working fine and I boxed it up. Now I am getting 12.8v on the speaker terminals! ( the power supply voltage). The box I have used is tight fit. It seems that I have shorted the power-in somehow? I wonder how else I would get the full Power supply voltage on the output. Anyone have any ideas?

If you have incorrectly wired the input coupling cap, you will get full DC at the output. Remember, the coupling cap is not just to block DC from the source, but also to block the DC bias of the Tripath IC from reaching the source.

The coupling cap must be installed after a volume pot, if you're using one:

Input >-----<Volume Pot>-----<Cap>-----<Amp

Photos are always helpful, it hard to troubleshoot something if we cannot look at it. Picture tells 1000 words, right?

My finished products, I have 2 units (including 1 unit for my office):

I have written 3 articles on the T-amp in my blog:

Enjoy the Music through the T-amp.

Just ordered one of the Sure electronics tamp boards. Was bummed to see that the 4x100 watt ones were no longer available, but I guess that's what I get for being slow. 🙁

I chose the cheapest shipping option... something about Hong Kong, I forget. I saw on the Sure website:

"Normally, package deliveries by regular airmail service may take 7-15 days to cities in USA, Canada, West and North Europe "

But I don't know which shipping service that would be through.

Any comments on actual delivery times to the USA?

I would like to read through this entire thread, but it's getting pretty long. I'll try to pick up the highlights...

A summary of most of the modiifcations in this thread...

I have detailed most of the recommended modifications that you might want to try here, I have tried to do them how to style, hopefully this may help.

I have yet to try the mods to the low pass filter on the output, I will get round to it soon. I have also left the input resistors alone so far. Again I will write up the modifications when I get round to it.

As I am new to this I thought I would start with something ready made and start from there. I received my board from Arjen a couple of days ago and today I hooked it up on a regulated 13.8 volts power supply, my cd player and a set of MB Quarts. I have to start learning faster than planned because everything was silent and stayed silent. I think I have to study some basic electronics this weekend and figure out if I can solve the problem. Waiting for the coment of some friend who wanted to talk me in buying a kit now. 🙂

Aad. So you've wired the board with connectors for signal in and signal out to the speakers. You have connected the power supply in the correct way and no sound. Can you take any pictures of how you have wired it up?

You did not release any magic smoke by connecting the power supply incorrectly?

Wow, That's a great service Arjen!
I made some photo's not so detailed as it was just for fun at that moment. I have to process them so that thakes a minute. I’ll do that tonight. (and check how to post images) Thanks for help.

There is not much to be seen. But that all I made at that time. Stopped making photo's as the project was earlier finished as I expected it to be.
I did not think about it to take more. I don’t know how to post more than one image so I’ll make a second post for the other image.

Thanks, Aad
