For everythink technical? I think german would be better. More differenciation. In fact you can only build technical stuff of the complexity you are able to explain in words. At least the people who build it have to understand it.
German is a third-rate language: it needs three genders to accomplish what French does with two and English with one. And any language that inflects its adjectives (French is particularly horrible that way) is unneccessarily complicated. And what they do to torture their verbs defies belief; the rule is, save the verb until the end, and if by then you have forgotten it, say "gewesen."

Imagine you were to explain a technical problem to a British engineer? He wouldn't have a clue what you're on about.
The point you make is only of importance when you envisage a carreer at a multinational company.
In that case a multilingual engineer would get priority over a single language speaking one.

I have some students from china here doing the same classes as me. I think the chinese are really better than we and the US. We will hear from them in a few years. But i´m really not able to learn chinese.

Perhaps not, but nearly every American scientist of my acquaintance speaks at least one other language well enough to read the literature and carry on normal conversation. Most technical Ph.D programs require advanced proficiency in French, German, Russian, Chinese, or Japanese. I wussed out and chose German, though these days my French is better.

I've met quite a few scientists, especially in China, who had no language ability other than their own. You're on point for the majority of European scientists; nearly all of them have some ability in English at minimum.
How about your refusal to sign up to the Kyoto protocal. Most of the world's scientists (including those within the US) agree that global warming is happening, and that it is caused by increasing amounts of 'greenhouse gases' in the atmosphere. Insurance companies in the UK have now developed computer models showing which parts of the country will get flooded more and more often in the coming years because of climate change, and are refusing to insure property in those areas.
Most of the world's countries are co-operating in an effort to combat the problem. The reason we tolerate punitive levels of taxation on gasoline in the UK is because we know it encourages the use of more efficient cars. Meanwhile America does absolutely nothing to discourage the use of ridiculous, gas-guzzling, ego-enhancing SUs and RVs. I find it absolutely incredible that these stupid vehicles are now the best-selling cars in the US. What on Earth are you thinking? Do you as a country really not care?
The issue is not how long oil-reserves will last, its how long the global climate can sustain increasing burning of fossil fuels, and the release of the carbon locked up in those fuels into the atmosphere.
Why was your President one of very few heads of state who didn't even bother to show up at the last Earth summit? Is it perhaps because he leads a country which doesn't give a monkey's about the rest of the world?
Come on, I would love to hear an American defend his country's refusal to sign up to Kyoto.
I would love one of you to admit you think you have a God-given right to use as much of the world's resources as you want, despite the fact that your nation is creating a disproportiante amount of the greenhouse gases which are screwing up the climate of the whole planet.

OK, I got a bit carried away there. the original request was for examples of 'US attitudes towards individuals and the planet' which are disliked by 'many of the worlds people'.
Does this qualify or are you seriously going to tell me that you will disregard this as 'anecdotal' unless I can produce a survey of the world's people showing what percentage agree with me? When are you going to open your eyes and see that the behaviour of your country in some areas is UNACCEPTABLE in the view of the majority of the world.
