It would be instructive to know what you consider to be left wing because so far what I have seen described as the European Left in this forum bears no resemblance to reality and your description of the right isn't too accurate either.

I've had trouble with the same word myself. It's an automatic system that doesn't know whether you're getting an owie with a needle or calling someone a rather rude name.

This morning I was fire polishing a bunch of plexiglas plates I had cut and sanded for front panels. Except I didn't bother to open a window, so after I breathed in enough fumes I imagined thus:

"Aha!" said I, "in other words, you can't create a load you can't drive, so then you cannot be omnipotent!"
To prove himself Gawd then created the Ultimate Load, a load above all loads that even Gawd couldn't drive without distorting.
I laughed, "so now you cannot drive this load properly, then there is something you can't do after all, so you are not omnipotent!"
This made Gawd angry, and he put all his concentration into driving the Ultimate Load, and raised his negative feedback to kill distortion. Unfortunately for him, he forgot that the Load was not purely resistive, but quite reactive too. And Gawd began to oscillate wildly, and the Universe with him, as I made my exit.

I'm probably not the only one that tends to associate people in these forums with their avatars. So every time I think of SY (don't worry, it's not that often), I see the creepy guy in the black and white icon. At least it's better than the monkey.
BTW it appears that the heat retempers the plexiglas and puts stresses in the material, as I just noticed there are growing cracks in some places. What a waste of effort.

Yeah, well when people started asking me if that cute babe in my last avatar was me, I knew it was time to change. OK, I admit it, I'm a bit of a creep, but I'm no babe. I'm open to some image-management, if you've got any better ideas.
Annealing of plastic is pretty tricky- normally, you have to go through a rather tedious controlled heat/cool cycle, usually involving a hot non-reactive liquid to ensure even and rapid thermal transfer. Take a look at your creation through some polarized lenses- you'll be shocked.

Political/religious threads inevitably become contentious when members with deeply held beliefs meet other members with equally deeply held but diametrically opposed beliefs. Sadly, this has led to behaviour that has necessitated moderator intervention. Intervention on such threads requires considerable delicacy of touch and expenditure of time. Frankly, we'd rather be making some DIY audio...
