You can prove he lied.

Did they find any piece of evidence in Irak?
Where are the weapons of mass destruction?

That says it all.

The war was made because of the weapons of mass destruction.
What is your definition of lying? If you mean he knowingly gave information that he knew to be false, then he lied. If he gave information that someone else represented to him as truth and then found out later it was not, does that still make him a liar? Or, does that make him mistaken? Even if he knew, someone in his administration will step forward to take the blame for him and without written proof from white house papers how can anyone rebut it. That is why I believe it is a waste of time trying to pin him down for lying when there are far more easier things to catch him on that he can't get out of. My goal is to put him out of office and I am bound by what I have to work with over here.

Hi,

That was just an excuse for it....

The real excuse was an economical one...and a political power game.

Playing ping pong in China and having a coke,😉

Finally, someone who realizes there is more too it than a lie. Once you get over that bump it becomes easy to rip Bush to pieces, if only the Democrats that mattered would realize that.

I don´t care if somebody else lied or not.
If the president of the USA can´t tell if he should make a war or not than he shouldn´t do it in the first place.

Even if somebody else lied the responsibility is his own. That´s why he is the president in the first place.
And if normal people like you and me can tell it´s all bull **** that means Bush is really naive, stupid or he knew from the begining it was a lie but he would make a lot of money for his people.

Of course the reasons are economic. Do you think we are naive americans here?
I don´t give a damn if Bush lies or not. Who does? That the Us citizens problem. They have to live with it.

Oh yeah and instead of spending money on war you should spend money on your electricity. If not have fun with your blackouts over there. I really had a laugh for a couple of days.
hahahahahaha

Promitheus:

The blackout had nothing to do with international affairs. Your comment comment is inane. How can you expect to be taken seriously after adding "hahahahahaha" to a comment that was irrelevant in the first place?

However, if we must indulge in brickbat tossing, consider the following. The United States economy has slowed under Bush to a growth rate of only 2.5% annually. Certainly not a good performance.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3068369.stm
"The sluggish US economy is taking longer to pick up than anticipated, according to the latest figures and comments from the Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan.
Mr Greenspan, in his twice-yearly testimony to Congress, said the central bank was cutting its forecast for US economic growth this year by three quarters of a percentage point to 2.5-2.75%."

However badly the US economy is doing under Bush, at least it is growing. Your country's economy is contracting. It is actually getting smaller! That is unheard of for the US.

http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/8-14-2003-44211.asp
The German economy shrank 0.1% in the second quarter, after contracting 0.2% in the first three months of the year, meeting the technical definition of recession - two consecutive months of contraction

Promitheus, I strongly suggest that you stop laughing at a one-time emergency in the economically growing USA and start doing something about your own longstanding economic emergency. Laughing at a two day emergency while your economy is shrinking makes no sense at all.

even if the german economy was for one year in recesion there would never be a blackout.

I didn´t say the two things were relevant.

"One time emeregency" ????????
Are the continious black outs in California one time emergencies??

I can laugh all I want because you guys are just rediculous.

Are the continious black outs in California one time emergencies??

Continuous blackouts? Hmmm, I don't have your advantage of being 10,000 km away, I actually live in California and I've never heard of continuous blackouts. Two years ago, there were some temporary localized loss of power (my business was out for one hour!), but I suspect you sometimes have the same thing when you get a thunder storm. We don't get thunder storms here.

Unlike France, we're not frying our old people.

well maybe our economy is not growning right now but I can have fun with my 35 day vacation. How many days do you guys have for vacation over there???

Depends on the "guy." We actually can negociate vacation individually, rather than having a government agency decide when and how much for us. This allows me to spend my vacations having a good time rather than sitting on the Autoroute du Soleil with 40 million other cars, filled with people whose vacation started the same day as mine.

I'll be nice and not ask you to try to connect the first phrase with the second; basic economics doesn't seem to be the strong suit of most Europeans I've met. One of our candidates for governer, born in Austria, is fond of saying that he decided to emigrate to the US because in Europe, 18 year old kids are already talking about their pensions.

That in itself says something about why the US is the most vibrant culture in the world- can you imagine a native-born American running for Chancellor of Germany and having a better than 50:50 chance of winning?

I think you missed the point that promitheus was making...

The blackout.. no matter what 'homeland security' you have, you are vulnerable and The Homeland security (of that ashcroft nazi), failed at the very basic principle of homeland security, to protect the people from wherever the threat came.. but the homeland security is not made for that.. however you want to call that "liberal bs" or whatnot... it failed to predict and prevent the utmost basic of failures. It's meant to spy on people not help people period.

And no matter how much you proclaim yourself as "strongest nation, 1st world country, etc..." you were shutdown without any attack and you didn't expect it. It made the world laugh.

I personally enjoyed seeing the stars for once, having a less poluted environment and enjoy God given nature... for once I was able to hear crickets, frogs, birds, etc...

It was a good time to reflect and philosophize... if you take away all the useless technology how much more happy life was 🙂 Materialism plagues humanity. You could have the whole world, but if you don't have your soul reservoir filled with anything.. it will all be worthless.

I forget WHO said it.. but in the middleast someone said something like this was "poetic justice". In the meantime there was still no power or water in Iraq... liberation.... hah.. The country was more destabalized then ever.

Remember that video from commedy central that I posted with that soldier yelling and screaming with joy when oil started pumping and he said "You want a cookie? Here my mother made these" or something like that... a cookie?... wtf lol... amusing how it was one of the first things to be taken care of before power and water and the people... but of course it's not proof that this war had a big part to do with 'economic growth' or better said greed.

Anyways, the economy growing? How sick can you get? How dare you even post little decimal percentages... of 'growth'... YA AFTER MILLIONS LOST THEIR JOBS? The beauty of capitalism.. you can fire everyone and it'll seem like a company is still growing and prosperous.

Promitheus: 35 day vacation? Hah I wish. Maybe rich people.

Over here it also depends on the guy. Everyone has the rigth to have 25days. some have more because they work 40 hours per week in stead of 36. They get 12 extra days to compensate.

And most can take it whenever they like. The only problem is that most people have kids and that they all have to go on holiday during the summer vacation months. Luckely I don't have kids 🙂

The growth of economy doesn´t really say anything about how the people really live in that country.

Third world countries have larger grow rates then others , that doesn´t mean the people there live good.
Even if the economy here in europe goes down for 10 years the people can live very good here because the ifrastructure is excellent and the social system is good.

I here from people that live in the US that they have to do 2-3 jobs to pay their rent and credit cards.
Here no one works a second job. And most people work only 35-38 hours.

Most people have their vacations when they want and not only in the summer.

Gigatron got my point.
Do you know what such a blackout means?
Any terrorists can go an damage a smal power plant and a large area as big as 1/5 of europe turns off. And nobody can do anything about it. That makes me think of how strong america really is. Strong on the outside and rotten on the inside. I have heard that from a few americans a have talked to.

The real problem of america is in the inside nad not the outside. Thats what the people of the US have to focus on.

No Ashcroft fan here. But the job of any security agency is to detect and foil plots to disrupt or destroy infrastructure, not to see that the electric company is working well on a day-to-day basis.

I dare post them because these are the facts. The American economy generally has a more robust growth rate, and now that people are unemployed, it has a less robust growth rate. But it has a growth rate, and there is nothing wrong with pointing this out to individuals who wish to believe a two day blackout over part of the country constitutes some sort economic freefall. Especially when they are posting from nations with larger economic problems, at present, than our own.

I take no pleasure in Germany's present economic woes, and have every faith that it will soon right it's economic ship and move into an expanding economy. I am just trying to present some perspective to an individual German poster who has demonstrated, both by the content and tone of his posts, that he has no perspective whatsoever.
