Oh, yeah, I'd heard that they legalized pot up there. Keep this one secret or Ashcroft will use it as yet another reason to keep the War on Drugs going full blast.

It hasn't happened yet. What they are planning is decriminalizing possesion of small quantities (but with even stiffer fines) and making the laws tougher on anyone growing it.

My hamburger sundae is actually a mutation of the one they sold at Hippo Hamburgers in San Fransisico...

Then it's not True Love.

True Love is not about yourself, which seems to be the real problem with the world today, nobody does anything for anyone unless they get something out of it.

I agree. But if you look at Bush or Rumsfeld, do you think they would do something out of love for people on the other side of the world. So not for money, power or the fate of the american people but to help other people. When you see Rumsfeld, do you think that he would want to help the poor people of Iraq because he feels so much compassion for them... !?

In the case of Blair I feel that at least a part of his motivation is genuine. For some other politicians I feel the same. But for the current american government I do not have that feeling. It could be me... 🙄

Fedde

ps. George Clinton for president!

You are so right. Maybe he loves himself? I have been away from
this thread for such a long time. I see my old buddy G is back with his winded diatribes. 165 words a minute! He'll make some exec a wonderful secretary someday. A union made in heaven!

Thanks for the sarcasm my Bush loving friend.

Yes indeed selflessness is hard to find.. interesting... how the US gov is so selfless in its acts.

Oh and cut down on the smart *** remarks 😉 Oh and I don't need a secratary

PS - so you still believe this war was justified? What about Iran and Syria who are being threatened now a days? Also justified. Ah well.. 🙄

Ok, fair enough.

But then you have to admit that the invasion of Iraq was not an act of "true love"

He just went along because he (and the UK) would gain from it.
Over here many people are already angry with the belgian government for oposing the war. Not because they think the war was a good thing, but just because they feel the economic pressure from the US.
I think that's the US's strongest weapon now. Most countries will not protest when the US pulls it's next stunt.

snip..
I don't think even Blair is that naive. It is costing a fortune. Of course for the US there are cost offsets because they make most of their own armaments. The UK buys in the lion’s share of theirs, mostly from the US.
There aren't even any preferential rebuilding contracts either. The contract decision-making is in the US - behind closed doors. [Who can blame them]. The UK was a mug to get involved.

On the bright side: The truth about the intelligence information (which was used to justify going to war) is gradually coming out. There's going to be a lot of trouble here. Blair was either stupid or incompetent.

It's called Economic Imperialism. And I was told this by a conservative politician supporter 🙂 Can't get any better. Modern Imperialism is economic.

Hi,

Indeed it is.

As a Belgian citizen I can't say I'm pleased to see our government is once again bending over backwards to accomodate the almighty U.S. with regard to out genocide laws...

High time for Europe to pull together and form a balancing power America respects.

Cheers,😉

P.S. Canada, will you join us?:devily:

Good idea in principle Frank.
Unfortunately, there's a lot holding us back:
UK wanting to float mid-Atlantic
Germany - reunification turmoil
France - always wants to do things it's own way
That leaves the rest....I won't be rude 😉

Very well put, it seems you have voiced what most thinking Europe feels.

Europe as a unity is way too young and fragile to face such a task...still I do have my hopes up.

Cheers,😉

Oh yes... most Americans are cool, but those in power to me don't really seem to care about the average American.

We have our fights now on softwood lumber (tariffs which are actually hurting US Citizens more than Canadians to prop up companies that are at he end of their evolutionary rope, and the paranoid turmoil over the strengthening and streamlining of marijuna laws...

Hi,

and the paranoid turmoil over the strengthening and streamlining of marijuna laws...

And that's just what it is, paranoia...plus destraction from where the real problems are...

So let's put Canada close to Holland on the map, Fedde will pump for us so in one single move we'll have both Canada and Tony close to home...

Welcome home boys,😉

Ya Canada has weapons of mass construction. Our damn enriched Lumber plants 🙂 LoL.. ah well..

Hmm thought I'd post some news. The US government saying that they found pieces of what could be used for a nuclear program. LoL, notice that its from like twelve years back (gas centrifuge for processing nuclear fuel for reactors and warheads).

Buried in a backyard lol... check CNN no joke. Here is a quote:

"The CIA has obtained critical parts of a key piece of Iraqi nuclear technology -- parts needed to develop a bomb program -- that were dug up in a back yard in Baghdad, CNN has learned.

U.S. officials say it is not evidence Iraq had a nuclear weapon -- but is evidence that Iraq concealed plans to restart a nuclear program when the world was no longer looking. "

What's funny is that you need hundreds of those to produce even miniscule amounts of u238. One of those, best you could do with one was in some science experiment lab for microscopic quantity. Man these are really desperation acts and of course this is again 'wmd program' no longer wmd 🙂

Remember kids, next time you want to restart your WMD program make sure to burry it in your backyard.

All 'jokes' aside, it's etting boring listening to the same lies or false 'hopes' for justification of the war in the news 🙄

I think we should dance in circle and make real peace then discuss this anymore. Sort of pointless with the obvious. 😎

Speaking of which, change of topic 😀 Where do you want the next olympics? I can't wait for the Bejing Olympics. Wushu will be a part of it!! I am a martial arts fanatic 😀 (Got many tales).

I didn't watch the Taekwondo part of the Sydney Olympics 🙁

I practice Taekwondo, but want to start training wushu. The club I train in here in Canada, actually has people who were accepted on the national team who will go for the olympics. My master instructor was world champion in wushu (which is nice to note, Jet Li was 5 time champion, hehe I he's my hero).

Man, I always think sports are a more kind way of competition then war sheesh! o_o;

Yes, and it's in the interrest of the US that we stay devided. They don't want another "superpower".

I don't want europe to become a superpower either though, but there's already talk about the need for a stronger "european" defence system.

We'll be paying a lot more taxes in the future, just to have a modern army. Great!
