Greetings unixdeveloper . i have received all that is mentioned in your post . I would like to participate in the GB for the parts if that is still possible.
Again many praises for all your commitments to this project.
regards
reo.

Subbu, Jean-Paul, anyone...

Do the "Alternate Parts" yield a better or different sounding DAC? Just curious as I go through building my project list on Mouser. Some of the alternates have different values so I was wondering if there is a sonic difference in the result.

Thank you!

Same question from me !

Regarding C2,C3,C18 the Mouser PN and Manufacturer PN mentioned in BOM are slightly different products. Wich one to order ?
The one described by Mouser PN is available only in minimum 600pcs orders 🙁

Thanks for your effort in finalizing this project !

Received the Email from Unixdeveloper regarding the attachments, the parts ordered and my shipping address. I registered with Korben for parts and assembly and had sent a pm to unixdeveloper indicating that the boards and chip were to go to Korben.

Now, I am trying to figure out if the boards and DAC chip will go to my address or to Korben?

Hi 1MOR

Subbu has received on Sunday the "Assembly Service" subscriber's list, as previously mentionned.
Today, he has checked the list and will ship subscriber's orders to my address (PCB + ES9023 chips). You've received a generic mail.
I've asked Subbu to officialy confirm this here.

Hi All

For those concerned with Parts GB, some informations about parts content.

"Alternate Parts" in BOMs
They could be the possibility of replacing an unavailable part for another, or considered as an improvement.
Subbu gives me tips about parts he uses.

1° - DAC
C4 ALT : Wima MKP prefered
C34 : prefered vs C31 (C31 or C34 to be populated)
C32 : C35 is SALRPM a costly hard to find part (C32 or C35 to be populated)
C22 : Panasonic FC (C22 ALT is SALRPM costly hard to find part)
C8/13/21 : Elna Silmic II (C8/13/21 ALT are SALRPM costly hard to find part)
C5/7/15/16/17/19/20/26/27 : 4.7uF Tantal
L1 L2 : 100uH

2° - PSU
C1/C3 ALT : 2200uF - C2/C4 : Panasonic ECPU - C5/C8 : MKT - C7 : MKT
R4 (RLed) : Both 1K2 standard brightness & 1K4 low brightness supplied (1%)

You'll get a very good SPDIF DAC with those parts.
The improved V3 design is a real value by itself 😉
Hope this helps
Regards

Phil

Hi Korben,

Thank you for the parts GB.

Could it be possible to pay only after the ending receipt of the boards ?

Because there is a little risk with the Post ! We don't know when exactly the boards was sent ?

I have the BOM but not the boards yet, but I subscribe to the parts GB !

Hi Eldam

I understand your mean and wish all PCBs will be delivered before 😉
I beg you to consider Parts GB as another topic.
Parts GB will be closed on 09/22 and you will be asked to Paypal quickly thereafter.

Another GB but same Project...😉

Yes you understand well : why pay twice if there is a no-go because parts without boards. You know the french post...bader and bader !

My hope was to subdivise the risk. As it's impossible, I suppose I will not pay the 22 the GB parts if no boards are at home yet. No problem for you, you order only after the payment and I will buy myself with the BOM. If i have the boards in between, you will see my payement.

Thank you for your help in this project Phil

Hi Phil,
I see that Farnell/Element14 now stock the Vishay SALRPM caps, although they are about €1.50 each.

All -

There has been some confusion around shipping which some members have asked. The email I sent is only a confirmation and link to download the project documents. Members who have opted for assembly service, their PCBs will be shipped to Phil.

I am expecting to start shipping in the coming week (I could do them only in the weekends). Once the shipping starts you should be receiving an email with the shipment information.

Hope this helps!

You are one brave guy...
Thanks so much!!

Found an error in the BOM. The Mouser code for rectifier refers to a SMD version and a i see in the picture we need thru hole version.

Noticed some of the parts not available on Mouser stock.

I'm preparing to order BOM to Mouser at the end of the week.
