He-he... I may be not old enough to drink, but I aint that little (6'2" last time I checked...)

So your a BIG little fella then LoL a gentle giant even 😛

Really sucks how your project came to a sudden hault... if only replacment FCC cables were easy to get, seeing how popular this LCD is for DIY projection

Yeah is a bit...the FFC are really cheap and easy to get the large ones anyways...the problem i have now is i knocked over the PJ in the intrim waiting for delivery of the broken FFC...Trev seems to think it maybe the smaller fragile FFC that connects to the LCD itself...no biggy if its knackered i will get me a new Lilliput in a month.

Ive seen some of your new stuff on the webside, pretty impressive

Thanks mate appreciate that..got back into the case modding while I was waiting for the above forementioned FFC and things sorta got a lil out of control as you have seen LoL

im on a job-less budget right now

Yeah don't worry little big fella I know where your comming from there too as you know LoL Built up a PC for a friend of a relative and she gave me $300 for doing it as much as I insisted there was no need as it was a favour but she was persistant and it was $300 LoL

Later Alex 🙂
I had adsl before mate but it was 512kb...my isp just changed their pricing lowering all plans so i can now afford the 1.5mb for the same price as my old 512kb so im rapt 🙂

illegal downloads finishing within hours and minutes

Me! ... illegal downloads neeeeever hehee...now I must pop off and do some work on my website with my "purchased" copy of Dreamweaver MX hahaha

Well I just picked up a hip-gear controller for twenty bucks at future shop and after reading 33 pages of this (im new so have to start at the beginning 😉 ) I'm not so sure I should bother stickin this thing in a projector... I'm just a bit worried about the whole 15 - 30 hour bulb thing. I think I might rip apart the controller and a cheap small dvd player and make my own little inexpensive version of a portable dvd player.

Well anyways thanks for a good thread and thanks Dale and other people willing to take chances and document their findings here for everyone to learn and do the same.

I noticed that someone said you should buy a carosel projector for this... i just bought this projector and i'm wondering if anyone knows whether it will work or not.... thanks

it will very likely work. the kodak carousels are so popular for this mainly because they seem to be pretty well builtmany just like the look and build quality of the kodak carousels, also they are common.

the only issue you may come up with is that yours is meant for an odd sized slide in relation to the size of the lcd, or something along those lines. also it may be tricky to find a good way to mount the lcd in it.

but, with enough experimenting, it should work out for you. good luck and post some pics of your progress! 😀

I would like to know if anyone would be interrested into building one of those for me. I've gotten the lcd, but I'm unable to find a slide projector that fits the needs of this project... I'm kinda screwed... So I was wondering if anyone would be interested to build it, and at which cost.

I can send you the lcd already stripped, if it can lower the production costs...

Yesterday I finally got around to throwing the lcd into the projector( I have an argus projector and it is a beast). I've decided to mount it from the top and then turn the projector upside down, otherwise my image is upside down. What did I think of the results? Kind of cool for a dinky little projector. I built this for the pure experience, since I already have a 15" pj finished. The pixels on the sucker are definately huge, basically if you get real close there are little red/green boxes. I will take a picture when I finish mounting everything and show you up close what is going on. It's true that if you unfocus the image just a tad then the screen door effect isn't as noticable, but then it is out of focus so I am not sure which is better.

hey dude, i got my parts coming soon, so if i can do a good job on mine i'll be glad to do it for you cheap, just pay for shipping of course -but if i do a crappy job on mine, i'll let you know too

some more info for those wondering..

I have a Airequipt Slide Projector that takes a 400w DAT type bulb. Its got an extra 80mm fan added for extra cooling and the control board for the LCD is mounted to the projector. Has inputs for RCA Component Video and Stereo sound. No speakers, you can use pretty much any PC or stereo for sound.

the LCD is a PS2 Hipscreen, Bulb is brand new.

Ive also got a brand new PS2 Hipscreen w/ original packaging.

here is a PERFECT example of a slide projector for this application ! checkitout>>>

want big screen ????? without the costs !!?? > start with this projector !***here***

i used a non carousel slide projector, found it easier due to the construction of the particular projector i chose.
looks good, even tolerable at five feet wide, for video game use
i sit back about 12 feet from the image with the projector just behind, if i can find the pic i took i'll put them up

i used a box cartrigde style slide projector, it came out great, yeah screendoor, but Soul Calibur 2 at five feet wide was watchable at 13 feet away.
the only down side, this model has a loud fan, and it cuts off just a little of the edge of the image, but that can be remedeyed (however the fudge you spell that) quite easily with the dremel, and maybe a new fan.

aslo i have lots of pics if anyone cares to see
