You see, unlike some Countries, Our military is all Volunteer. I have several Family members, and a few friends, who are there or are home now.

So that means you can support a war and not go?
Thats why you get into wars and then loose, all hot air and then a no show

Tall Shadow said:

Their view is that We are there for good reason, and all of them agree that We are doing the right thing. I Will ALWAYS take their opinion(s) over Your "Arm-chair General's" any day of the week.

Its your actions not your reasions that are going to decide the outcome of this war

Tall Shadow said:

Posting pictures of Our troops doing what they are trained to do, Kill, blow up and destroy bad guys, Their stuff, and people who harbor them, only bespeaks of your ignorance of what war looks like.

Well what does IT look like then? I would realy like to SEE what IT looks like

Tall Shadow said:

Posting pictures of civilians injured or killed in these conflicts only shows that, yes, people who are not involved in war die too. The difference is that We do what we can to minimize this, while Your Heroes do everything they can to maximize it.

There is NO EVIDENCE that you try to minimize civilians deaths NONE what so ever

100,000 wow thats a small number

There IS a lot of evedince that you try to hide the number of civilian deaths and if you cant you blame it on poeple or forces that dont exist

And as for "my hero's" I dont live in your head (or maby I do, who knows) so I dont know who THEY are

Yes I could, But I was not accepted. I was told that I was older than they wanted.

So that means you can support a war and not go?
Thats why you get into wars and then loose, all hot air and then a no show.

No,(A.) I do support this war, and am/was willing to go myself. Unlike Our "Left" who can never see a reason to fight for what they believe in, I did/am willing to put my life on the line for My beliefs

Are/did You?

(B.) We got into only two "wars" recently where we were not totally successful, Vietnam & Somalia. Both were because we were hampered by politicians who were unwilling to give our troops total freedom in their actions and support.
You could also say that Vietnam was successful, in that it was fought to stem the rising tide of communism in the region, and it did do just that. Somalia was thanks to the micro-management from our wonderful Ex-president & staff. Not from Our armed forces fighting ability.

Its your actions not your reasions that are going to decide the outcome of this war.

I could agree, at least in part, to that.

Well what does IT look like then? I would realy like to SEE what IT looks like.

You misunderstood My meaning. What I was saying was, war doesn't look like an impressive Hollywood movie. It's dirty, cold, and bloody. War is death. War is destruction. To think that pictures from a battle zone would look "good" or "Nice" or have some uplifting quality, is unrealistic.

If you'd like to view war, look no further than your nearest library, search on WWI, WWII. need More? Read " The Rape of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust of World War II, by Iris Chang"

Enjoy.

Yep, we never give people time to leave an area >BEFORE< attacking. We never use "precision munitions" to minimize civilian casualty's. We always strap bombs to ourselves and blow up women & children. We never provide food, Aid, medical attention, schools, running water, electricity or free elections. I can see where you'd see that as NO EVIDENCE! How silly of Me! 🙄

100,000 wow thats a small number

WowMichael Moore(<smaller than his actual size) What a great source for information! Even those who usually support him, agree that his "Facts" aren't truthful. Did your research too I see.

There IS a lot of evedince that you try to hide the number of civilian deaths and if you cant you blame it on poeple or forces that dont exist

Tinfoil a little tight?
Yes, We are over there putting on fake firefights with Our nonexistant foes, just to show "Them" that we are tough guys.

Wow!, and I thought Our "Lefties" were Way "out there"!
You get the prize!

And as for "my hero's" I dont live in your head (or maby I do, who knows) so I dont know who THEY are

Unlike You and your ilk, I don't need "Voices" in my head telling Me what to do. I do My own research, talk to people who are/were "There"(Wherever There might be) and make my choices on my findings. I don't need to parrot what some of the media or people are spewing. Try it sometime.

Do you think little Johnny Bagdad or Timmy Afgan are coming to get you?

Not any more he's not! :devilr:

Would you kill the roach in your home, yet leave the nest next to your back door?

You fight men and boys in Iraq

Men and boys?
I thought (Acording to all of you) we were fighting the women and children?!?
Men and boys!....Fighting!.....Oh Heavens! Maybe I should tell someone!?!?!

Are You sure?
What about ducks?
No rabbits?
I like frogs! How about frogs!

Bush has spent all of your power now you weak and in a posison to do nothing

Yep we sure are weak, no threat here. Come and get some. :devilr:

Do you know how many times americans have said that they could wipe my country (New Zealand) off the face of the world?

Why would we want to?
Rabid sheep?
Rabid Sheep.....Um....Friends?
Kiwi world domination plans?
Did I miss the "Memo"?

Im still waiting

Well You still have your sheep, and.....um.......Rocks?

We kicked you out in the 1980's and to this day your government is still sulking like a spoiled little kid

Infact I wish you would come back just so we could kick you out all over again

It was such a "Big" event that I Didn't even know about it.

I can't think of a good(or any, for that matter) reason to be there in the first place.

Therefore I am "Truly" Upset about this. :bawling: ,no!....Really!....I mean it.....Well maybe that isn't true.....in fact I'd say that very little of it is true...........I'd go so far as to say that virtually none of it is......If I wanted to waste My time and comment about it at all that is.

What have you done? some thinking?

Foreign concept to you huh?!?

Stop the war

My observation about this very long subject is that I've been
distracted (in reading all these posts) by the digression of the
posters on the "sub-subjects" posted, that probably don't
contribute anything to the comprehension of the whole matter.

Everyone has something to say just about anything, however
I haven't seen didly on one of the main reasons why the war on
Iraque, why the terrorism and the 9/11 and all the consequencies
of these events, as being the resolutuion of the problem
in the Middle East... This might have been the sole problem that
have contributed to all this situation around the world... We (I)
would like to see more comments from the media (and analists)
on this situation as being the key to the problem, but unfortunately it seems this is a "tabu" subject and nobody talks
too much about it.

Bush himself doesn't say anything, very conveniently, in order not
to disturb his good friend Sharon and his entourage, but heknows
quite well the importance of this matter in resolving other crucial
and prement problems... Let Sharon do his thing, it's allright
as long it doesn't force Bush to "think" too much to create a
solution for the problem.

While this Middle East strugle is not being resolved we'll have
all kinds of subsquent situations around the world and Bush
& his friend will have their consciences troubled by it.

If they have consciences.....

Would you kill the roach in your home, yet leave the nest next to your back door?

I guess you did not mean to compare the Iraqi fighters to roaches. Yet, it shows the attitude many have which leads them to dehumanize the enemy. I don't know how anyone can try to make excuses for war. I grant sometimes it may be necessary, but it is better to err on the side of peace even if the short term gain is less. What pleasure is there in conquest when the price is innocent blood and the compromise of one's higher aspirations?

On the contrary, I did exactly mean to compare them to roaches. They plan their terrorism in dark out of the way places and run when the light of day is shone upon them. Sounds like what roaches dare like to me.

As far as dehumanizing them, I'd say terrorists have dehumanized themselves too much already. And as such, should be removed from where ever they are found to be, expediently.

War is the only factual way to make a lasting peace. Peace, lasting peace is NEVER the result of sitting down and negotiating between opposing forces. NEVER has been, NEVER will be. Read history, look to the past. It's a FACT. Dispute what I say, do the research, check the history books your self. You might not like it, but the proof is all there for the looking. Would I like it to be otherwise, Yes. I have children too, but I am not foolish enough to preach the fantasy that "Peace is the answer!" or "No War!" or any of the other unrealistic catch phrases that people want to force into the news again. Thinking that these methods will work "THIS TIME", when they, throughout history, haven't EVER worked before, is asinine.
I need not justify war. History Justifies it quite well.

"Pleasure in Conquest" is not what war is about. War is about definitively resolving, irreconcilable differences between two or more forces. In my view, there is no "Pleasure in Conquest". There is only the knowledge that once the war is over, the peace can begin in earnest.

As far as trading "Pleasure in Conquest" for "Innocent lives".

I do not wish the innocent harm, no one that I know ever does. However, in war innocent people do die, yet as even you have stated, war is necessary, therefore, innocent people will die.

I don't want My children/grandchildren to have to face these terrorists, I want them to enjoy their liberty and freedom. If some people think I am a "hick", or "Nut case" because of this, that's not my problem.

"They that can give up essential liberty, to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty, nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin

That is not the impression you give.

That's true, I guess seeing the hundreds of innovations/inventions, the available products, the open ended possibility of moving upward
in social-economic class, the unmatched research on numerous fields, and unrivaled exploration in space, might give you all a slight inferiority complex.
So hows the whole "Moving my country into the 20th century" thing going anyway? I thought so.

Hmmm... I've seen this kind of behavior from lots of americans.
I start to believe there is something wrong with the way some americans understand democracy. Hmm, my way or the highway, yeah right, that was it. You should start reflecting about this(if capable at all).

Guys, feel free to attack each other's ideas and beliefs. It's inappropriate and unacceptable to attack one another personally. Lose the name-calling.

Perhaps some choose to take their cue from the top. After recent events, I would have thought playing the man not the ball was the name of the game.

Nope. Zone defense is clearly superior. That's why it was outlawed in the NBA for so many years and why football teams (I'm talking about real football, not that lame soccer thing) orient their offense to get pass coverage man-to-man and break out of the zone.

It seems your ignorance runs much deeper than I thought. If it is available to you, the odds are it is available in Timbuktoo or Ulam Bator. As for innovation and research, I think you will find that goes on across the developed world with some ahead in some areas and some in others and more importantly much of the basic science that underpins todays world was done elsewhere.

I was referring to the game played by the bulk of the planet not ones played elongated stick insects or padded ponces.
Faced with a superior argument it is not uncommon for those in public life to seek to sidestep the argument by attacking the one making the argument.
