Me likeeeeeeeee your last post, I was looking at the DE bulbs but mabe the 150 watt SE one with the reflector would work, mabe get 2 or 3 of them and wire em togeather, One thing though, In the ansi Lument part I cant make out how they figure it?

Edit: One thing we have seen is that a 400 watt Mougle MH isnt that great for Lights on viewing only darkened room. Frankly Im looking for lights on clarity or at least good looking with shaded partially drawn, thats where the DE bulbs come in( or at least bulbs with small spark gaps)

Video Freak

Yeah some great new bulbs are out that make the standerd mh type look to simple and not so practical, manny of the new mini mh bulbs come out with uv filter on the bulb wich is an advantage to us, cheak out www.phillips.com and they have a great range too with very small burning arcs, at the moment ive got a diy projector with a 150w halogena bulb for the initial testing and with 2 100w incondesant lights on in the room( mind u with shades) i can still see my pic on the wall at an image size of 2m diag and that bulb puts out only 2360lm so if i go with a mini mh bulb that puts out 10000lm-14500lm im sure ill get about 800lm crossing my fingers lol. The one im looking at is the 150wse mini mh too its only 4inches in length and with it only being 150w very eficeint.

some more info on HQI

Negative Design said:
u can buy a hqi system for 129$$$ i been doin some research for a LOONG time and i've found a solution.,, get a bulb from DIYlabs or their partner for 34 + an 85$ ballast from 1000bulbs.com M80 http://people.eecs.ku.edu/~astaples/projector/parts.htm the HQI bulb info said its compatible with ARO and M80 ballasts. and buy 10$ holder from i dont know where...

OK! the bulbs heve BAD color though unlike ROLM'S the color is 3000 which i think is HORRIBLE. and the lumens isnt to great either.well im still doing research on HQI bulbs and REDUCED JACKETS....any info or help on how i can retrofit my OHP would be greatly appreciated.

after doing some more searching i've found that there are TWO 250 watt HQI's that are 34$ one is the crappy 3000 color and one is the great 4200 color which makes this a great deal after all... on DIYLABS buy page he doesnt state which bulb he's selling so if you are going to buy it PLEASE buy it from http://yellertwo.tripod.com/yellertwoproducts/id28.html site because you dont know which one hes selling. and i dont mean to deter customers from DIYLABS but there jsut isnt enough info on the bulbs....

and ANOTHER thing, the bulbs say compatible with M80 Ballasts, why doesnt he sell the m80 instead! the M80 should drastically cut down the price! 🙁 seems a lil fishy to me... :mafioso:

if any one decides to purchase thses lights please post it...i'd like to know how it goes.

when i was working in a light factory making dj lights and street lights about 7 years ago we used an m80 ballast, its the magnetic coil type and they didnt cost that much, they are about $40 australian with a socket !!!!!!!! ill try to find out if i remember the company who used to make them, they wer made in asia and that price was for a 250w or 400w from memory, im not in aust but asoon as i get back ive got all of the contacts for the prices and i can get them cheap!

yeah just ask if u can have an offcut as a free sample, an idea i have is to cover the inside of the ohp with this and that way any stray light will go through the frensel, that way u dont loose as much light as in the stray light, it could make a diff to the corners of the lcd as in some cases they are dimmer than the center, im not using an ohp so i cant conduct the experiment for ya
