regarding xenon i think they run quite hot from memory, i mean realy hot like a halogen, maybe hotter, but im not sure about the radiated light temp, could be like a mh, i can get u a 1.6mil lm bulb if ya want one lol im sure that would fix your troubles with light output lol

I found a place locally that will sell me a 250W M80 ballast for around $35.. I assume that it is a coil ballast not electronic, i hope that is ok.. I also asked another place in town about a 400W M108 ballast and the want like $450.00.. insane...

I know xenons can go off like hand grenades if mistreated - but weapons of war!😎
OK so does this mean that ALL DE HQI bulbs give off UV rays, If so Is it mostly blocked By the glass? The perils of diy.

no, some have built in UV blocking glass. look in the metal halide HQI section http://www.lampman.co.uk/javastuf/bindex.htm and you will see that the UV block cost just a lil bit more.
I should think the simplest sollution to UV would be to buy a sheet of UV glass from a glass shop and use this in replacement of your "stage" glass. Then take whatever precautions required to controll leakage at intake and exhaust vents.
zardoz...firmly believes in the "KISS" theory

orr...you could get "funky"....maybe find a tube of sorts that will contain your lamp and it's UV and maybe with the right stuff it might even protect your condensor in the event of a lamp burst?
