Trans!!!

Hi Sachi,

Hey arusuk, i have placed the order today....235rupees for a 20VA...
for 129VA they say 720 rupees..isn't it a bit pricey..
especialy with NAvin saying that he gets his for 600 for a 600VA.

Yeah!! it is bit expensive , But they dont stock the values you are looking for , They have to wind for ur specs,

with quantity they might reduce, but with the quality of wire & core is rest assured that you get the best for what you pay for.
Bye

I finally got my drivers yesterday....
now i want to finalize the design before i start the woodwork...
The drivers,

Can u guys tell me which of these designs would be better..

The crossover is almost done...waiting for some critical components..
the Xover points are 350 Hz and 4.1kHz

In the smaller enclosure the group delay is smaller but, i lose out marginally on SPL...one other thing i wanted to ask was that the GD in the smaller enclosure is larger at frequencies lesser than that at fs...but isn't the GD supposed to be maximum at Fs like in the larger enclosure...

Cabinet construction help..

Hello all,
am in the process of building the cabinets for my first ever project and wanted to know a couple of things..
1> the front baffle can be pasted in two ways, i.e
a- the front baffle is placed in between the two sides of the speaker.
for example , if the speaker(made with 1 inch MDF) width(outer) is 12 inches then the front panel cut out would be 10 inches and the side panels would be pasted to the sides of the front panel..

b- the front cutout is full 12 inches and the sides are pasted to the back of the front panel....
which is the best way to go ......

2> how to make the cabinet heavy naturally, i mean without adding sand/lead shots..

3> along with an inch or 2 of glass wool what other material can be pasted to the back panel to damp the box.
the cabinet is ported...

4> what type of screws/nuts i should use for mounting of drivers and for holding the panels in place while pasting them.

Thanks,
Cheers,
Sachi

1) Not really sure if there is a preffered method for affixing the front baffle, but I usually put it in front of the side panels, so it's easier to get a nice finish on the front of the box.

2) To increase the weight w/o sanding the box, up the wall thickness, double up the materials, or use lots of bracing.

3) There are lots of different damping materials out there on market. Everyone has there own prefferences though.

4) If you can find the proper size of stainless steel or other non-magnetic mounting hardware for the drivers use them. As for holding the panels in place, I generally don't use any. If you clamp (or weight) the panels sufficiently while glueing them, screws aren't needed. In fact when properly glued, the joints will be much stronger than the material being glued.

Take my advice with a little consideration, since I'm a newb here myself.

First Pics

Guys this is an update on the speakers.
ur inputs...?
Still have a day's work ahead before i finish it up.
Please give me your views and opinions regarding any changes that i would need to make before i close it up.

All sides are fitted using Araldite and then screwed(1.25 inch screws) on.

Inner walls are sealed using GE Silicon Sealant.

By the way..each enclosure should tip well over 30kgs

outer dimensions are 32.5x13x14.75(HxWxD) all in inches.

Effective volume of the woofer box is 2.35cubic feet and is tuned to 29Hz.

They are sealed off from the inside to just in case the glass wool tries to come out .
The cloth is speaker grill cloth, provided by Arasuk.
