Here is one stating that the CT7302PL is the worst sounding converting chips and the AKM4137 is much better..??

The guy in the other thread wants to know how you tested the AK4137. In that thread they insist that the AK4499 is a direct DSD DAC and superior to the DSC type of dac... Hmmm..

Star DAC board price

I will soon have a very good balanced output (I/V) board, from Raleigh Audio, and would like to feed it from this Star DAC. I have no interest in PCM-DSD conversion, since I will be driving it from HQPlayer. So, what is the price of the Star DAC board alone, with no controller or output board?

IIRC, there were some people who were disappointed with the sound of the CT7302 upsampler/DSD-converter chip that all digital audio is passed through before going into the dac stage. Having experimented with the same chip on my own, I didn't have any luck getting a sound I liked either. If someone else remembers it differently, maybe they can chime in with their own impressions.
