Internal Sphere
People keep saying that the internal spheroid is no good because it doesn't help with standing waves. (resonances caused by the summation of certain frequencies at certain distances).
OK
BUT WHAT ABOUT the internal soundwave energy itself? Couldn't something like a tear drop or oval be used to focus the reflections away from the cone of the driver? This would help a lot in a thin walled full range driver design. I personally don't like stuffing or foam since it seems to color the sound, though small amounts have worked out ok.

Like the teardrop used in the Nautilus? Yes, you get lower diffraction signature than a sphere with fewer of the 1 note resonance issues of a sphere.
I can’t see the fear of damping.

no I meant internally to keep sound from reradiating through the cone. Maybe someone has tried it.
