Sony vFET Amplifier Part 2

Jason,

When I was to late to obtain the essential kit from the second batch, I clicked on the button to be put on the waiting list for the next batch, answered some questions about what I was going to purchase, and also clicked on the button for submitting my email address.

If a 3rd batch of is available, does the above give an advantage over those who have not signed up as I did, or do we all just wait for instructions on this thread, and then see you can submit orders the fastest. Just asking because I have never been involved in a production run like this before.

Regards,

Myles

If anyone is interested in batch 3, please sign up for the VFET mailing list:

Sony VFET Kit Interest Group

If / when batch 3 materialises, we will allocate kits first to people on the mailing list, then if there are any left over, they will be made available to the public.

People on the mailing list have been getting an email containing links and have 72 hours notice to make a purchase. These emails have been sent on in order of fairness (basically "first in, best dressed").

The links aren't published on the thread until everyone on the list has had a chance to purchase first. Finally, public / newsletter announcements will be delayed for several days after any links are posted in this thread.

I signed up to the waiting list a couple of days ago (after the announcement of the final batch) so I'm not sure whether I now need to sign up again?

Tizman is trying to show enthusiasm and commitment IMHO. And he has reason to worry!

Not sure how Jason is going to handle this. I'm the production department and he takes care of the orders.

It's a new development, as we just finished a big effort on what we thought was the final batch at least for quite a while, and suddenly there are potentially more VFETS available! I'm now focused on the Supplementary Kits which we promised to do, so the final batch of Essentials Kits won't even be started being packaged for a couple of months. In fact Nelson still has to test the VFETS.

HOWEVER since people now pay in advance for the kits, Jason could open the ordering at any time and he probably will as he needs to know how many brackets for example to order and they take at least 2 months to manufacture and ship.

We'll do our best to warn you all in this thread first.

Mark
Personally speaking, the delivery date is of secondary importance. I'd be happy to pay in advance if I got confirmation that I was definitely going to get a kit - I'd just like to know!

So the way I understand it, you go online using the link recently posted by Jason and register interest and get put on the waiting list. At that time you should be guaranteed to have a chance to later order kits.

(this has NOTHING to do with my stupid list merely for determining interest in the Supplemental Kit that I posted on this thread quite a while ago. Just pretend that list never happened!) (it also is separate from the waiting list for the first 2 orders, which have been completed, unless you somehow agreed to put off your order back then to be put on the third list in which case you should be on this third order list..

Then when we have the kits pretty much completed, people on the list will be contacted by Jason, in order that they signed up, to then pay for what they want. They pay, and then get to wait even a bit longer while we finish up any outstanding parts orders and send them to our fulfillment company who ships them to each address.. etc..

Then, as has already happened twice in the past, people actually get their VFET Essential Kits and/or their VFET Supplementary Kits, and whatever! Hoorey!

Personally speaking, the delivery date is of secondary importance. I'd be happy to pay in advance if I got confirmation that I was definitely going to get a kit - I'd just like to know!

Hi guys. It's all the same list (batch 1,2,3), the list is a general "VFET kit interest group" list.

There are not separate lists for each batch. We know who bought how many, and to date we've restricted purchasing to a maximum of 2 per member, so that's the limiting factor for many people at the moment. When we cement the number of kits and other variables for batch 3 (like max per member), we'll make them available for pre-sale, so you can lock in the purchase, relax and make your plans for other bits and pieces you need, and not have to worry about the VFET side of things.

That all said, the current focus is on delivering batch 2 to people who pre-ordered it.

Well, I believe this is a more general statement ... my experience is, that especially when there are very few parts in a design, the quality of the few parts make a heck of a difference between good and great....and if this might be the very best design of the bunch and the active parts are the creme de la creme....why would not go for the very best ?

I would go with quality resistors like vishay dale rn55/cmf55. There are many other good brands. Elna Silmic capacitors are a good choice too.

Get the best quality transformer you can afford, toroidy is becoming the standard choice here in europe for pass amps I guess.

I am starting to sort out my buying-list...is there some wisdom on what parts should be high-end in the schematic like tx2575 or Rhopoint/Neoohms etc ? Appreciate your thoughts/experiences....

Interesting question about audio path resistors in Vfet amplifier.
What is more sensible R's position ? Feed-back R3/2K21 with R4/332R and..?
