Sony vFET Amplifier Part 2

I just thought of a partial solution to this problem.
Nelson could design a case for us DIYers, have it manufactured in China, sell it in his PASS DIY Store website at good price with some profit margin then no one would even bother buying these fakes when they could buy something from Nelson directly.

We already have the great cases from hifi2000 sold here in the forums.

Might not be as good as FW but they have great quality.

Most of the DIY boards seem to fit flat on the heat sink. FW cases work with the long narrow heats inks, and would need different design strategies than are currently the norm.

I'm happy with the cases here and at modushop.biz, who supply the ones here.

I never said I want a Firstwatt case, just something that Papa designed, there's no reason the heatsink has to have a bracket.

Papa and I coordinated on the bracket he mentioned, which is a T section I believe. To attach the TO-3's to a heatsink these are often used. One leg is the horizontal shelf to attach his PCB and devices to, and the other is drilled to bolt into the drilled and tapped holes in the Deluxe 4U and 5U DIYaudio chassis'
Which is best? Let's let Him tell us, but for a single matched pair per channel the 4U should do. We've given him some 4U and 5U chassis' to play with 😉

That sounds great, and looking forward to the result. I have 6 pairs, and hope to make something nice. My speakers are pretty sensitive, and I have a good commercial pre-amp. Love my Aleph J clone, but really looking forward to some VFet action. I have a pair of Permender's boards, but looking forward to NP's efforts.

Respectful of any assumed deity(s), capitalization of is not correct usage.

This will work with both chassis (samples of which have been generously
provided by DIYAudio so as to further the effort).

I am awaiting a quote, which if it does not arrive shortly, will be handed off
to two secondary sources, both probably slightly more expensive. (like $0.50)

😎

The reply for stock.

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in diyAudio's 5U deluxe chassis.

We are currently moving the store and will have these and more available on the diyAudio store shelves in a few weeks. Do watch out for the opening. Opening date will be announced on the forum and old store site.

FYI, all 4 and 5 U chasses are out of stock at the store.

4U and 5U chassis will be available for purchase from the new store in a few days, I hope within the week. New color options, cheaper prices, discounts on handles and more...

There's been a few hiccups since I left Italy a fortnight ago, including a badly timed total computer meltdown which threw a large spanner in the works. I still have a heavy travel schedule and am balancing a few things at the same time, but everything indicates at the moment the new store will be "soft launching" next week.

How much will a preamp need to swing to drive the amp to full output? I'm guessing by the front end that my stock ba-3 will be really excessive. Good candidate to put the dcb1 in front of? The other option i have is a broskie cathode coupled amplifier I've yet to complete. With the tubes I have gain will be 10ish.
