Something to lighten the mood

Can you remember when the posh people on TV started to have those push button phones? Wow!
I can remember reading a book, and the really rich guy had a phone in his car.... - can you imagine such a thing! Then there was the Star trek film where Scotty spoke into a computer mouse. Technology that children take for granted still amazes me.

Come on, the touch tone phone has been around since the sixties.
Not for the common man. That was a luxury item. The rotary dial came with your account with the phone company. I didn't see a push button till after I moved out the family home.
and the really rich guy had a phone in his car....
My father had that but it was a company phone in his personal car and no way in heck we were allowed to go near it.

Not if you had one of these.

Back to the subject at hand if you guys don't mind.

I was at a restaurant called Fitness Buffet. I immediately took note of the irony but wondered what else can we do with this?

As I sat there, I thought maybe I'd just try and fitness entire dessert section into my mouth.

I am now fit...

...for a visit to the emergency ward. I tell ya, sometimes the best of intentions...

Yes, scotty first speaking freely and then into the mouse! Glorious! (Even better than
)
And of course the phone would—klong!—weigh at least half a kilo, and a pass amp derivat would be in it...

This is one of many different phones sold here, LG also makes them, so do others.
They come in CDMA, apart from GSM, and offer a data port as well. Some have SIM, some have to be programmed for their number.
Very useful for old people living alone, it is easy to use.

No land line wires are needed, useful in areas where land lines are prone to damage by falling trees and digging machines.
Has a mains adapter and internal battery, useful in a blackout.

Depending on provider, some people have used it as a car phone as well.

A little off topic, might come in handy for those of us with aged relatives.
