Around here a fool's errand is just what it sounds like. Often instigated by the boss on the new guy, for the amusement of the other workers. No real harm done.
Hazing is quite different. Usually performed by peers of the new guy, out of sight of the bosses. It can be illegal, humiliating, dangerous and downright cruel. It's to ensure he has the mettle, or to weed out those without.
Anyway, this thread is no longer what I had hoped it was going to be so I might start another and let you guys enjoy this one. It's been a lot of fun and a real distraction from some other things.
It certainly appears to be a "fool's errand" to try to keep this thread confined to "Something to lighten the mood".
