The new apprentice Chef came to me at Reception one day. Told me the Chef had sent him to me to get a "Long Weight".

I knew this gag. I told him to take a seat, because I was busy. But I relented after a couple of minutes. 😀

There's a horse entered in the Melbourne Cup:

8. AWAY HE GOES (IRE) G6 Ismail Mohammed 54.5kg - OUT THROUGH INJURY

AWAY HE (DON'T) GOES! 🙄

Retort stands come in different lengths.
Given recent supply chain woes, that could very well be someone's last stand. Unsure if that would be better than a one-night stand; I suppose that would depend on one's perspective.

"Bastard File"
If it was double-cut, would that make it a two-timing bastard?

I didn't know there was so much design effort going into files! 🙂

Our House has been dealing with the perpetual 31st. October Hallowe'een problem of kids banging on our doors demanding Candy, whilst dressed as Vampires, Ghosts and Skeletons and even Devils.

My friend Colin has saved us the effort of pretending not to be in. We can keep the lights on.

But he has cleared off for the weekend himself, being a Church-goer, thoroughly uncomfortable with the kids celebrating the Night of the Living Dead. I don't blame him, when I think about it. 😀

Actually, it is single cut and double cut files, ranging from rough (bastard) to smooth.
The single cut remark / label should be below the upper row of pictures, double cut is in the right place at the bottom.

Typical British catalog stuff...it always bugged me that the American books showed the parts as numbers or names in the drawings, with a table if needed... the British books (and drawings in general) had letters, and you had a long text describing the parts and how they worked.
Thankfully, gone like British engineering.

If you are curious, look up assorted needle files, you will get some idea of the different shapes available in files.
You also get files coated with abrasives like boron nitride and diamond dust, for hard materials.
Nice time pass on a cold winter's evening.

Guys, nothing to do with files!

I have flat bastard, mill bastard and a host of others in my shop. I was talking about stand and long stand. I have no idea what that means.

And Allen, if you mean fool's errands when you say hazing, I was the one who mentioned the term. They are actually quite different here. Galu was talking fools errands, hazing is not the same.

Am I talking to myself here?
Apparently.

See you guys another day.

If you hadn't done the literal, to me:

Direct: "You shall early "bend" if you good hook shall be!"

Would mean:

If you are not stubborn, you will make a good partner.

The context does not really translate to a single word, "krøkes" would probably more correctly translate to "getting your mettle tested in the thick of it"/thorough resilience testing/sink or swim more than being easily bent.

What you're talking about makes me think of a worn out pair of slippers, but whatever floats your boat or sinks your swim. 😉

Kirk is saying "Eat your Greens, Big Ears!"

Cal has shut down the "Farewell Cruel Forum" thread. Somebody mentioned dubious cures for the horrible Germ... 😡

I was enjoying it. It was funny as anything:

I've got to show that to the kids 😀

I had a washer gone for a week, that came back.
Must be extraterrestrial trickery.
And car keys, they never gave back.
I always look first at the last place.

... And I've learned to check my other pockets...

Phosphorous.

A simple way of looking at fertilizer is:

Nitrogen - Leaves
Phosphorous - Flowers
Potassium - Roots

Off-topic Cal 😀
I just had to tag it because I need to fix some plants, my chili plants are depressed since moving indoors.

I think what Kaffimann is missing, is Plants struggle in the icy gloom and misery that is Norway in Winter. Try Cod-liver oil. Norwegians swear by it!

Or some LED light bulbs. 😎

My Geranium came from Norway as a small pot plant. It has now multiplied around the neighbourhood and grows to Epic proportions in a decent climate:

Doesn't seem to be pining for the Fjords. 😀

Anywhoo, I am very busy in the argumentative and incomprehensible thread "The Black Hole":

Hope Cal doesn't shut it down for abusive behaviour, or mention of Ecclesiastes. I am very subtle in my abusive behaviour these days. And I don't mention the R-word or the C-word. I know the forum rules.

The Norwegians are taking over the world step-by-step. They start with plants and in the end you will forced to march on May 17th (or you' better train on wearing tradional Norwegian womens costumes) ... So, don't let that plant grow to wildly.
