WE bought a bottle of Glendalough Poitin when visiting Ireland. Wasn't as smooth as whisky but still interesting.

Being palinka of Hungarian origin, we used to say, palinka can be made even from old wintercoat.Cool. My former neighbor had a still in his garage and made Polinka. The grapes he used to make it are still growing in the yard.
I had a glass of his moonshine once. I was Jimi Hendrix for the rest of the afternoon.

Hmm, that proposition might require further research, but I’ve been spending more of my retirement experimenting with agave based distillations, and goodness gracious but that can be an expensive rabbit hole to spelunk. I’ve had the opportunity twice to enjoy Clase Azul Reposado, but at current exchange rates the $300+ is a bit rich for my blood. The thing about Vodka, IIRC, it has to have no discernible taste of its sugar source.
Did I get that right you Vodka experts?
Tito's is corn.Vodka is made of grain like wheat or rye - NOT potatoes!
Rain is corn. Odd taste to me.
Chopin is Potatoes. Good but pricy.
Ciroc is grapes. Way to acrid for me.
Vermont gold is maple syrup based. more like cough syrup.
There is an apple based vodka I cannot remember, General something..
Luksusowa...not sure what VOC it is made from, but whatever it is, I am not a fan.
Tito's is by far the best of the lot.
John
They probably siphoned some from the Moon landers 😉
If it is called ‘something or other’ vodka, then okay. If it is just called vodka, you can’t leave anything in it to allow the essence of the sugar source. Hence the 101 sources of the fermentation. Vodka by law just means purified alcohol, with water added.
Vodka is made from all kinds of stuff, potato is quite common, even horseradish is on the list.

And now a break for entertaining engineers (that's what EE stands for, right?!) at work, actually came across this pic just yesterday while browsing around on TI's site, you may spot at least 3 things potentially wrong with it... :-)

Ah yes, when you allow for the incredibly wide range of botanicals that that can be infused in the gin distillation process, the range of flavor profiles expands almost hyperbolically. Several excellent distillers on the Island here, my current* favorites being Victoria Distillers’ Empress 1908 Indigo and Oaken, and Sheringham’s Seaside, and Ampersand’s.
*might need a late summer tasting road trip to confirm/update that short list🙂
Edit: Vodkas - Sobieski, Tito’s and Zubrowka Bison Grass.

Tried several kinds of gin in Duluth many years ago, like Spruce, Cedar, Pine and actual JUnifer gin.
VIKRE DISTILLERY
Three errors ... I see many more.

What ground clip leads? I don’t see ANY where they are supposed to be on the probes. Just the red “power supply” wire. No ground for it either.
One trace is showing a flat line. The other a highly distorted 60 Hz. That red trace is what one might expect if you just touched a probe to the circuit at an arbitrary place, with NO ground connection. Like the thumb test on the end of the RCA jack.

Not that it's wrong per se, but the board layout looks a bit suspect - cluttered with caps lying on their sides in the test region. Sloppy work there, and it possibly shows on the scope.
If I read the settings correctly channel 2 is DC coupled, 10/1, non inverting and active.
Normally the ground lead is clipped to the scope probe on the shielded metal ring near the probe tip. These slots appear to be unused here. Although it is possible the probe on the right might have a ground lead attached. Too much is hidden behind the hand and there may be part of a lead clip visible, although it could also be the image angle is showing the ground ring itself.
Do not confuse the ground ring with the ground shield obvious just back from the probe tip.
No ground lead would be needed if the probes were being used in the differential mode. But that is not what the settings seem to be.
I can’t tell if the scope is a Tek or an Owon.
