Thank Sachin, You can use this design for driver 10 to 12 inch.Hi Vvxun
I am very much interested.
Regards
Sachin

And completed plans

and some pictures for during building

This design good for driver 10 and 12 inch, because with driver 8inch they have bass ranger under 35hz (My microphone can't measure ranger under 35hz). Bass ranger of driver 10inch and 12inch better than the driver 8inch verry much. Next time i will to buy a microphone can measure bass ranger better...😀

Thanks Vvxuan for suggesting a good TL design.
This design looks very good and simple enough to build. Few people have suggested to build big old style bass reflex enclosures but I have got very good result by TABAQ using small 3.5" drivers. I feel this TL design will give me very good Bass.
Please note my driver of coaxial driver with horn integrated in it. Please see pics below

Hi Sachin! You can use this driver in my design. You will remove the small hole (for tweets) and move the big hole (for driver bass) up to, about 10cm, you will have a nice design for your drivers. If you like bigger design for driver 12inch, you can extend width of enclosure from 35cm to 40cm.
You should add the splint to make more solid enclosures.

good luck!
Thanks vvxuan,
your posts are really helpful. I will build this enclosure for my drivers.

Here's an interesting one for you.
Altec 420A 16 inch driver.
What box/port would give a good response?

Xmas inches 0.15
Re 4.6
Vd 19.2
Fs 22.6
Vas 28.2 cu ft
Ref 1.7
Qts 0.47
Qms 6.59
Qes 0.51
Vid 0.20
From memory, not unlike the famous Altec 416.
I am just about to start a build using a ported box for this driver, 8.5 cu ft (250 liters).
Regards.

hi, VVxuan, thanks for yr contributions.
been reading this forum for diy ideas, found yr's most helpful.
yr design allow for unknown/old drivers without spec to good use.
had read Xrk97 thread, its quite technical and need for drivers data sheet,
but optimize for best result, more to serious built with very good results.
i'm looking for a built to use some unknown drivers for desktop use.
looking forward to yr ideas for smaller drivers 5" to 3", thanks.
i guess small drivers dont get the good bass. Might use yr box size,
and take Xrk97 formcore ideas for cheap builts, thanks!

Hi Vvxuan,
I am really impressed with your results with such a simple design, compared to complex horns... Since I own a spare pair of Fostex FE206E (treated at Decware), and I am in search of boxes for them with strong WAF I found you pages.
I see that started moving the "mouth" of TL designes to a side of boxes. Have you made any for 8" and if so would you be so kind and send me such a plan? These have an extra WAF (wife acceptance factor - happy wife - happy life).
My material of coice would be MDF.
I thank in advance and wish you many new successes in future.
Cheers

Does the sound proofing lining have the same effect of lengthening the TL as normal stuffing does by slowing the speed of the sound?
I though that this myth had finally died, but I guess copies of Bradbury are still around,
NO!! Stuffing/lining does not slow the speed of sound by any measurable amount. Stuffing/lining does not "lengthen" a TL.

what does the stuffing do for the sound?
what does the stuffing do for the sound?
Stuffing 1) provides acoustic resistance and 2) changes adiabatic compression into isothermal compression.

Question
Hi vvxuan,
I was wondering if you ever measured the parameters of the Philips driver? I am particularly interested in the Qts - the theory would say a Qts around 1 is not suitable for TL (internet rumor is Qts=0.95 - http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full-range/269096-philips-ad-7063-ideas.html) and your demo video shows the contrary. Is there any equalization used? there seems to be allot of bass...
By the way - this is not the only TL with the same architecture that seems to work well when it shouldn't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIwZjJanXag

Not true, when Qts' is > ~0.707, tuning to Fs/Qts' [Alpha TL alignment] works well.
Qts' = Qts + any series resistance: mh-audio.nl - Home
