So i impulse bought a sub. What would you do with it?

If you mean the 'blanket' to 'ring' its harmonics down + the other, then seems reasonable to me; otherwise, considering 80 Hz = a ~34400/pi/80 = ~137 cm/54" sound 'bubble' squeezed in the cab along with all its still large harmonics, then unless it's very large it seems like the density required could be enough to act more like a solid, making normal stuffing to turn it from adiabatic to isothermal the better choice overall like Bozak did with it huge Concert Grand.

even if the enclosure is over 12cf i think that amount of acoustic energy from 700watts and 189$ driver is pretty good. actually i think it still meets the iron law thing. but it shows that you should revise revise revise. in retrospect i wish i would have purchased the skar evl 18 for my enclosure because i now know that its the VAS that is important not the SD (actually i think its more of a ratio so both are technically correct). it would have been cheaper, and if the parameters given are true, it would have had lower GD and higher output at fb. i'm still happy with my subwoofer though and i cant wait to get it into my truck!
on post #135 HR screen you typed poc3, is this poc3 folding ?

I knew what it was, just not why posted....... Yes, I imagine it was quite thrilling......My health kept me out of the military, though was involved in numerous military contracts including subs, so got a little 'taste' of living in one, which definitely was not for me, so kudos and thanks for your service!

what you were referring to, i assume, was panel or diaphragm absorbers. now that i understand more about them, i understand that attaching a panel directly to a foam substrate is not the way.

i have a question about traditional tapped horn... has anyone had issues with port velocity noise with large woofers? i have a maximum port velocity of 28ms and the woofer would take up most of the mouth area.

Correct.

Not me, but haven't been around many different designs other than DSL's and yet to build a TH beyond a cobbled together a small POC, but here's one I simmed with an 18" that was built by others in an old fireplace and it sims with incredibly low velocity, so please export yours.

I’m trying to build something for my truck that has very high power density and a 28hz fb. the reason the one I summed has high velocity is because the woofer has a sd of almost 600 a xmax of 32 and a vas of 18l. It really has little to do with the enclosure. I could possibly make the mouth larger but if I have to go bigger I would just go with a different enclosure all together.

The horn will be 14” internal width and the depth will be 30-31cm iirc at center of magnet. This is a square woofer so you can imagine the space it will occupy. 28ms is at xmax at tuning. FYI this is the kicker l7x12. It might be the best subwoofer you can buy. I’ve posted a sim already on this thread for possible output. It’s capable of over 140db in .5pi @30Hz occupying about 200L of enclosure. It also has a completely bolt on top assembly.
