Freddy, haven't you asked this before? Me, I'm using a small Tymphany / Peerless driver (NE65), but many other 2" and 3" full range alu cones are reported to work well over 500Hz to 15kHz (ish).
My system sensitivity & max output is enough for my needs (sensitivity is boosted by the narrow horn angle and 4ohm driver), but it is probably not enough for you or anyone else who wants it super loud.
I have an outdoor(battery powered) system that needs more efficiency, hence I use a real CD out there (JBL 2445 500Hz and up) ...but I'm considering changing that up by splitting the range: cone mids (maybe 400Hz to 4kHz) and CD highs.
I'm always considering ways to change it up, and only do 10% of them 🙂

Only that I am still listening to this system happily
I replaced the Hivi B2S with a B3S for a slight lift in efficiency. They sound sound similar enough once eq’d appropriately
I have just put in an order for the SB acoustics full range driver which specs better in every way, hopefully it is the final change in the system!
Forgot to mention that I have been alternating with a JMLC horn with radian 1.4” driver which is also a superb combo with very high SPL capability and plenty of dynamics
The fill range driver on the horn is less of that but has a smoother presentation and a nicer midrange. I’m keeping both options

Is there a detail of the throat shape when FR drivers are mounted to a wave guide? The need to match the CD exit angle would seem to be absent but experience rules over speculation.

PRV WG45-50
Swapped the Alpha-2 driver to the PRV WG45-50 horn. This is a well made thick ABS horn. The 2" entrance is perfectly round and smooth. I did have to block sand the flange to flatten it a bit, but that's usually the case with most plastic horns. I put a thin narrow piece of adhesive foam tape around the hole - which I normally do.
Regarding the driver. I used a 4" plumbing cap as the enclosure. The plate was made from baltic birch slightly less than 3/4" thick. 1/4" x 1-1/2" screws are used as studs (see the previous pictures I posted) and were drilled and tapped with threads - yes, you can tap baltic birch. A 1" piece of bonded dacron was used for stuffing.
Measurements attached.
Actual SPL 92dB @ 2.77V 3ft.

Screws meaning machine screws, of course. Curve on the PRV horn looks better and I presume sounds better, plus it's from PE not ePrey. Inspiring!
Listening to the Alpha/PRV right now. Very good so far. I'm very susceptible to poor sounding (harsh) horns/drivers and can usually tell in a few minutes whether or not i like it.
The horn coverage is very good - which is what my off-axis measurements showed. I have a 15 ft. X 30 ft. room and can walk around with no sign of dead spots. It's smooth and consistent from one side of the room to to the other. I'm impressed.
On the low end I'm using a Dayton PA200 8" woofer crossed at 500Hz. I haven't measured the complete system yet.

Just for confirmation, I put in a Tectonic TEBM35C10-4 and measured this:
I could not test a CD yet. Is this to be expected? I guess it is the mass roll off is working against me.
Edit: this is unsmoothed in room measurement, with the horn facing up, ca 70 cm above the floor and the mic is ca 50 cm from the front plane. The back of the horn was inside a plastic bucket full of acoustic lining, creating a sort of aperiodic housing for the speaker.

I have the same horn and I need substantial lift from 3kHz + a high Q notch around 800Hz. I guess the throat cavity wreaks havoc under 1kHz??
This was painstakingly done without measurements, lots of trials but ended up quite ok with Visaton FRS 5X.
