Did you run a wire from the input ground to star ground? For some reason the lifted ground causes problems with oscillation.
Indeed it does. I had to re-layout my own pcb (similar design to SKA) twice before I had a solid design.

Please make sure that Zobel network in the amp is OK, looks like it is a part of compensation in this case. With zobel disconnected this amp is oscyllatin very badly (on my boards)

Big thanks for this super amplifier.
I made no-zener mode, bias 130mA.
Sounds really nice!

Works very well, Bias is about 15mV at the 0R15 resistors (0,75V at the 10R test-resistors).
Double mono built with finest components.
Sound? Incredible!
It drives my 3/5a + AB1 like no other amplifier i've ever tested...
I'm very glad and happy to built this amplifier. 😀
Regards
Oliver

That's a very nice build you have there! Congratulations! 🙂
The GB150D is one of the very best amplifiers I have build/listen. I use 150mA bias (1.5V across the 10R testing resistors at the fuses). It sounds a little better to me 😉

150mV? 😱
But surely not with 51,7 VDC (35 VAC) and such small heatsinks like mine...

Before the SKA i used a Aleph3 ClassA clone in my rack... till it burned

The additional AB1 subwoofer were to much for this amplifier (but also sounded great, don't panic it lives on...)

That's great... like this synonym!"Man Cave"

Surely with 35VAC. 150mA bias is a class AB setting, just 50mA above the default 100mA bias. You don't need big heatsinks.Thanks...

150mA or 150mV? 😕 how do you measure the mA?
Or do you mean 1,5V with the 10R resistor and 150mV at the 0R15 resistors?
Sorry, can't follow what kind of setting you mean?

How does the sound compare to the Aleph3?

Ok thanks... i think, i also try this setting. Seems to be popular...You measure 1.5V across the 10R resistors. 1.5V/10R = 0.15A = 150mA
RCA= CMC 805-2.5AGWhat kind of connectors are those at the back?
binding posts = Jantzen Audio
230 VAC socket = Neutrik NAC3 powerCon
Sound is totally different. How does the sound compare to the Aleph3?
The Aleph sounds very voluminous, sweet and warm with a very wide and deep stage.
Rather than a strong tube amplifier.
The SKA sounds much more clean and detailed.
Not so voluminous but with a clearly better control in the bass.
Bass goes deeper and has a very good, light punchy dynamik.
Stage is not so wide and deep but much more staggered.
I would say...
- the Aleph is better for listen smooth music while enjoy a good glass of wine.
- the SKA is for real audiophil listening. It brings the best out of the speakers what is possible.
