SKA GB150D now public domain...

I think, this is no grounding problem... I'll try to do some measurement today..

Big thanks for this super amplifier.
I made no-zener mode, bias 130mA.
Sounds really nice!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Works very well, Bias is about 15mV at the 0R15 resistors (0,75V at the 10R test-resistors).
Double mono built with finest components.
Sound? Incredible!

It drives my 3/5a + AB1 like no other amplifier i've ever tested...
I'm very glad and happy to built this amplifier. 😀
Regards

Oliver

That's a very nice build you have there! Congratulations! 🙂

The GB150D is one of the very best amplifiers I have build/listen. I use 150mA bias (1.5V across the 10R testing resistors at the fuses). It sounds a little better to me 😉

Thanks...

150mV? 😱
But surely not with 51,7 VDC (35 VAC) and such small heatsinks like mine... :yikes:

Before the SKA i used a Aleph3 ClassA clone in my rack... till it burned
The additional AB1 subwoofer were to much for this amplifier (but also sounded great, don't panic it lives on...)

"Man Cave"
That's great... like this synonym!

Surely with 35VAC. 150mA bias is a class AB setting, just 50mA above the default 100mA bias. You don't need big heatsinks.

Here's video of my GB150D: click <here> or <here>

Sorry for the noisy background.

GB150D Vocals Test.
Source: Lenovo X230
Software: Foobar2000, ALAC file
Mic/Camera: LG G3
Speakers: Daiichi Euros 6

Single Pair Mosfet GB150D
PSU: +/-35VDC
Bias: 150mA

You measure 1.5V across the 10R resistors. 1.5V/10R = 0.15A = 150mA
Ok thanks... i think, i also try this setting. Seems to be popular...

What kind of connectors are those at the back?
RCA= CMC 805-2.5AG
binding posts = Jantzen Audio
230 VAC socket = Neutrik NAC3 powerCon

How does the sound compare to the Aleph3?
Sound is totally different.
The Aleph sounds very voluminous, sweet and warm with a very wide and deep stage.
Rather than a strong tube amplifier.

The SKA sounds much more clean and detailed.
Not so voluminous but with a clearly better control in the bass.
Bass goes deeper and has a very good, light punchy dynamik.
Stage is not so wide and deep but much more staggered.

I would say...

- the Aleph is better for listen smooth music while enjoy a good glass of wine.
- the SKA is for real audiophil listening. It brings the best out of the speakers what is possible.
