The one with the Dyna 10x HOMC is going to play through the Itch to bypass SUT influence and I will remeasure/ponder on the valve unit, if I extract more performance I will let you know Mr. Mago some time later in the VI thread. Now the mutant TT on FS phono plays perfect pitch and resolution is way up so I will have fun for a while before thinking Itch revisited scrutiny.🙂
Sounds very good, I will wait for your news😉
Hi Salas,
I replaced R2 for 18R and R13 for 3k3 per your advice.
Rail + <-> GND raised to 34.xV (more match to the manual requirement then before).
I adjusted TP 1/2 after 30 min to 3.6V and "voila"...
Gain is about right, more clear sound, more details I think.
I also matched my C2 and C2Y tandem. Thanks to you and to DE-5000.
All together (C2+C2Y) become 15157.1nF and 15153.7nF (0.021% matching). I think I'm going to add another 47pF to make it closer to 15.2uF.
Just purchase 20 Germany made KS 47pF 160V 10% of these caps from Turkey.
Thank you.

Alex, from those experiments that worked for proper gain we can safely conclude that your Wilson Benesch "Ply" cartridge is about 1mV output for 250-500 Ohm loading region.
It took us one good guess and one correction step to know. Note this result since its published spec is very wide and general. Do you use it in a full Benesch TT?

The 103R on the revised TT, some measurements. Speed accuracy on 300Hz tone, Fs Arm+cart, & the frequency response. All through the FS phono.

Nice. Is that with a HFN test record? (That reminds me I need to buy decent A/D USB converter for that kind of measurements. I always get jealous to compare)
If i want to install an Mc cart Denon DL-110 instead of my old MM cart do i need to modify something on loading? (resistor, caps)
I see in specifications that DL-110 needs the same resistor loading like my old MM.
I'm asking this because is the first time une i use an MC.
I own a standard simplistic not the folded one.
Thanks for help !

Yes, I used tracks from the HFN 002 test record.

Hi Salas,
Yes, this is my TT and my cartridge (Ply), but I do not use the round table. No space for it. I have very heavy American solid Walnut rack (custom made) and it stands on spikes on it.
I use 470R load for now with great results. I tried 220R and 1K, as well as 3k3 and 47k and mo much differences, if any. Do not know how to explain such big load variations and no sound changes, but this is what I hear.

Its good on 47K like the Dynavector 10X5 is. I had a DL-160 with same motor as the 110 and it had about 150R internal resistance, the 10X4 has 255R. Some people load such carts down to 5-10K also. It usually helps if there is a little "edge" in some systems as a whole. In any case, no CloadX caps. I also suggest you convert your input stage to FS even with K170BL you now got, there is more detail. But 369 is better. Ask Tea for a 1-2.5% 11-12mA pair. Use the 43dB gain setting values from the guide. Don't believe Denon for 1.6mV output, that is probably at 3.5cm/sec, when it will give 2.5mV++ at 5cm/sec which is the European and American standard.
Couldn't wait... 🙂

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Such good mechanical level TT and arm rotates and traces smoothly so the tip mass to vinyl resonance gets less excited and the load damping plays less role, that is why you don't feel much difference than level. They have obviously designed TT, arm, & cart as a coherent system for general resonance control. You have seen my humble Denon how controlled it got at last HF octave after the arm got upgraded etc. It was somewhat peaky before, more Q. First clue of good HF control on smooth TT systems is low surface noise. Imagine better control on yours which is designed and built as an F1 car. But setup has to be painstakingly immaculate, the more perfect the more demanding, exactly like in racing cars.😉
He, he, you loaded da bombz.😀
Huge ones 😱...
Just missing the miniohms for tests (another load of cash 🙁 )

You are at a high quality parts level already though. One step at a time. Run it a bit to flex out meantime.

I want it done and boxed so I can move on. Coming back now and then to do some experimenting. Should I leave it for long I probably never get to it - so I walk the line now.

His transformers are 48VA rated each I believe. They should have sagged more.
Take off some windings 🙂

Yes I use to much as well. Just ordered Clarity MR 4, 7 uf 400 V. The much cheaper dynamic caps was out off stock.
What is your TT and cart again? Amp, speakers? Sorry I forgot.
Modded L-75 with original arm for now (custom spindle and other parts on the shelf waiting for me to stop messing with this 😉 ). 103r. Modded old Pioneer integrated, Linn Kan v2's.
A bit hot-rodded mez on the way to drive Quad 303's at a start. My_ref Freemen on the way.
And of course - another folded 🙂

Hi Salas and all !!
These are my 117s sorted by IDSS
1. 5,77
2. 5,76
3. 5,70
4. 5,41
5. 5,27
6. 5,14
7. 4,86
8. 4,79
9. 4,69
10. 3,31
I would pair them as follows.
Q7 > 1,2
Q2X > 7,8 (with R6X 33R since I'm close to 5 ma)
Q3X > 3,4 (with R3X 6K2 since I'm over 5 ma)
Q5X > 5,6
am I right ? 🙂
