See post #2061 for the guide, where Salas describes the procedure for figuring out what power requirements are needed for a given target load - so you need to know at least what your requirements are.

Please do take extreme care when working with and using this regulator and any high voltage. One touch with your body parts in the right (or wrong) place can be fatal. I recommend to always use a variac when working with HV supplies, which allows you to bring up AC slowly to ensure you have connected everything correctly.
Or use valve rectifiers as I do.
I think you misunderstood. When I said "working with..." I meant experimenting, tinkering or testing. Nothing to do with known differences between solid state or tube rectifiers. 😀
I said because tube rectifiers have slow start up....
AFAIK, besides slow start up, they also have lower switching noise.
Once used tubes rectification never come back....to SS
Hmmm...strange. I went the other way....after the Cree Zero recovery diodes, Blackgate caps and Salas shunt, it's all heaven. But the valve rectifier is still a great sound. Anyhow, kinda off topic, and perhaps we should leave it at that...? PM me if you want to keep on same note...thanks!

No, only adjust the CCS current as the SSHV2 measuring voltage across R5, if you measure 500mV you have 50mA, if you need 12mA you have to measure 120mV across R5 like the SSHV2.
SSHV2 only use heatsink for Q1 so you don't need for Q2.

my friend "borrowed" my VT-25A line amp and never seems to want to return it.....
And when connected to the tubes, and before going live, how do I make sure that the CCSs will start from 0mA to be adjusted up, rather than say start from 200mA.....??

You have to use a dummy load to adjust SSHV2 & CCS.
One question: why do you need other CCS after the SSHV2 if SSHV2 includes the CCS?
