...managed to check on the 3 LED's orientation and they are fine. Replaced the IRF9610 and removed the D1, 1N5383A. Fired it up and got Vout of 281V from 298Vin.

Salas what do you think about using this regulator to provide cathode bias on a DC coupled amp, in order to avoid bypass caps?
The reg would provide cathode bias around 100V to the cathode of a 45 SET. I can't predict how it would handle sinking current instead of sourcing it?

Wrenchone had made a small amp like a Red Light District but with a shunt instead and it worked. Mighty something its name? Have a search in the forums. Maybe he took it to burning amp once, not sure.

Yes I never suspected this kind of change using a shunt regulator for B+ (you can see I'm newbie), application: pre-amp SRPP 6922, mains Tx custom made secondaries 240V & 8.5V far better than Audionote, about reg. nothing special it's a Quang Hao SSHV pcb, about components useds:
