More RIAA!
Yes, our friend "Jocko" really knows how to make them...
I got one of his boards, all finished and tested, to better than "typical Japanese" speck...And the sound...😀
Ask him, if he has more, and if he will make you one...not cheap, but worth every $ x 10!

Peter Daniel said:If I didn't know, I would think it's Peranders' extreme phono stage.😉
Peter, there are lot's of non-minimalistic guys out there.
Check for instance this one with max 16 opamps in parallel!

Sorry to dissapoint you Per-Anders, but I could only count to eight
parallel op amps. 🙂
On the other hand, I think John has mentioned before in this
forum that it is actually OPA627s in parallel (couldn't find anything
on the schematic) so 2 channels by 8 by the price of OPA627...
Don't think your phono amp is that extreme actually 🙂

The amp has a piggy back option (at the solder side) for 8 more opamps.

I see. Twice as extreme then.
Hi guys
The Rane PS1 looks good. But I dont understand the balanced/unbalanced output part. Which output would I use to drive a normal integrated stereo amp?

Check the J2 output connector. This is the unbalanced signal and the other block is the balanced with screw terminals.

That's fine. But what is the difference between the two types of outputs?

Are the White OP-amps any good?
Here is a detailed photograph of a RIAA pre amplifier.
It uses the Famous "White OP".
Are these OP-amps any good?

You want simple?
I've posted this one before, but for those of you who might not have been here..........
In zipped form, so that it is still readable.
(Never mind the fact that you can't get AD846s anymore. This was only the preliminary data sheet. The bosses at AD must have blown a fuse seeing an op-amp designed for military applications in an audio circuit. Substitute your favorite brand/flavor.)

Re: Are the White OP-amps any good?
If I am not mistaking I think they only sound good when matched with "Black Gates" capacitors. I run the blue transistors as it gets me into the right mood for listening...

Re: More RIAA!
I concur. A well made discrete design outperforms any opamp even OPA627.😉 I don't know exactly why and wished it was the other way around as all those semiconductor companies like AD, TI, LT, NSC etc. do want us to believe.😉
Halojoy,
I too have enough white paint to conceal the typo number of the opamp. It still remains a opamp IC!

I don't know if you would regard this as simple
This has been about while and has always seemed to attract good reviews (from the diy press as well)

Hi suppersready,
Link should probably be:

Just tried, it works. Don't ask me why your link doesn't. I don't see any difference in spelling.🙂 😕

Forgot to mention:
I have plenty of green paint too, to make green opamps😀 😀 😀
