dunno ;
it certainly isn't the same situation for Papa , as with PL & FW heatsinks , where extruding tool can be sent to any decent production facility .
I personally have enough SJEP's for rest of my life (for personal needs) , but I feel sorry because of his investment

This is interesting,
I was thinking of a similar project in push / pull transformer config with a couple
of 900v Horizontal output BJT's instead of KT88's
driven with a 12ax7

As I understand him, NP made a "lot" of SITs. He has his parts. But, where does that leave his comments regarding other parts, SITs even, comming out in the near future? 😕
Geoffrey Casady, who was CTO at Semisouth, has joined Cree as head of product portfolio planning.

That didn't take long... At any rate, come to Burning Amp and you can hear the SiC Puppy. I'll probably do a couple of variants until I run out of fets.
What??? 😱
Now I know why I hesitated to finish my last project that used vacuum tubes and SiC JFETs. Thanks Supreme Conscious of Universe, no investment made yet in it's manufacturing and distribution...

Here is what Cree offers, far from the same: http://www.cree.com/power/products/...ia/Files/Cree/Power/Data Sheets/CMF10120D.pdf
1,000 pF Ciss

I've been curious about the Cree mosfets, but not enough so that I'd want to pony up the asking price just yet. One might make a nice phony SIT with a jfet follower to buffer the input capacitance. Then again, it might sound like a $30 IRFP240...
nice to see
I asked him about that ages ago , in time when I couldn't find any place selling them

The cree's I see are 20v vgs for turn on if I read the data sheet right. Not sure if it's the same animal to either IRF240 or Semisouth's R085, R100's.
I think Wrench threadjacked himself.

should we ask Mods to move SIC related posts here : http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/222098-semisouth-goes-dodo-what-now.html ?

What current do you want?
Teabag - nah, you're right,it's a different animal. To be honest, I didn't look to hard at the turn-on voltage, as the price soured any real interest. Last time I looked they were more expensive - at $16 I may pop for a couple - after all, I pay on the same order for the big Ixys depletion mode parts. I wonder if Cree is wrapping money around each part to get the interest/volume up, or whether they actually have a handle on the yield to justify the cost reduction? Fake SiCSIT, anyone?

Well, check out this attached schematic, its a P-P amplifier using high voltage devices, in this case SiC JFETs from Semisouth, and it sounds very nice.... Actually, it sounds clearly better than the MOSFET version of the same thing. My impressions were very similar to what Nelson Pass has said elsewhere - it brings forward every acoustical event and makes it clear to hear, almost "visible", "lifelike". Fascinating....
(Just to be clear, I wrote an article about thsi for Linear Audio, and so I cannot really publish a lot of detail here.... it will be public soon....)
