Thank you for the recommendation about Cube Audio, but I have tried several times to take the conversation back to the topic: the Rullit driver. I appreciate the suggestions, but I'd rather discuss the Rullit if you don't mind.
@NIXIE62
You seem a bit concerned with the Rullit. Let's forget about the price range for the Rullit drivers and let's focus on the quality.

That is the biggest problem. Doubtful quality, hiding data and measurements, strange DIY appearance. Hardly anyone has it in their possession, so it's hard to check. The value for money is certainly very low, that moment cannot be ignored.
Where is the dislike button?🤣🤣🤣 I'm kidding. Drawing any conclusions from the video is pointless.
This sounds really bad. I know it's youtube, but it should still sound a lot better.
If you wish something special, Auditorium 23 have some interesting and unusuall speaker boxes. They use PHY-HP driver, but I believe they'll work well with Rullit driver too.
Rondo is resonant open-bottom box that acts like body of music instrument. Some time ago it was popular diy build with Saba greencone drivers.

Solovox is shallow open back cabinet with two curved resonant panels inside, so it can be placed closer to the wall compared to open-baffle.

Exaclty!
This is interesting, you pay the drivers like a kidney, and then you put them like this. 🙄
This is an example of something built just to show off something strange, unusual, trying to give an impression of high end system just cause it's different.
A 9-inch speaker without any baffle will rolloff around 400Hz or so.
What's the point? Why using an expensive system that supress frequencies from 20 to 400Hz?
Thank you for the recommendations. I have actually been in touch with Keith from Auditorium 23 and they do not produce speakers any longer, otherwise this could very well be a great match. I listened to Ocellia speakers a few weeks ago and I liked them, but somehow I miss some character, body and weight to the music. It became too airy for my taste. If you wish something special, Auditorium 23 have some interesting and unusuall speaker boxes. I think it's a good idea to move on instead of judging the speaker by a single video made from a poor recording on YouTube. We don't even know why this person made this video. The bottom line is that it sounds bad. There is no other conclusion. 🤣
Then there is nothing to focus on. Songer at least posts measurement. With Rullit there is nothing but a lot of hallaballoo about how special and whatnot his drivers are. Every €20 driver comes with a datasheet and T/S parameters that gives you an idea what you are getting into.Let's forget about the price range for the Rullit drivers and let's focus on the quality.

He sold the Aero8 because of these. 🙄
I found them on ebay relatively cheap (aprox. 500$ pair with shipping), and they seem acceptable. Why not try them first on OB? They probably need a super tweeter, not like he did, but in the back, like a backfire tweeter. Forward super tweeter can never fit well. The distance between the drivers is too large for those high frequencies.

Yeah, I found the Zenith quite good extension-wise for a whizzerless 12", but not particularly standard-setting in terms of "sound quality", among vintage high-end alnico widebands. Recent thread:
I recently came across a pair of these DIY enclosures advertised with Zenith drivers. The drivers had a similar look, but were actually not Zenith and sounded ok, not great. I then bought a pair with date code 49CZ860. There are 2 versions with alnico magnets, but I think they sound same. I listened to the bare speakers for 5 hours, and thought they had a lot of potential. Then I placed them in the cabinets, man they sounded amazing. Mids were great, soundstage crazy. Bass was not deep, but present. Everything was more composed. By the way, I'm driving them with a SET 45. If you...

Due to FC requirement I don't think I heard any of the several Rullits, when I surveyed hundreds of vintage drivers by videoclip on China's Idlefish Market.

Obviously, everyone has their own holy grail. Larger drivers (8+ inch) cannot be expected to satisfactorily reproduce high frequencies. The super tweeter is a practical solution, but only facing backwards.

This is a popular driver. The measurement shows a lot of what it is about. A lot of people listen to it, and I honestly admire them.

I think he sold the Aero8 mainly because of how cheap the Zeniths were. He grabbed them for just $15, which is a complete steal.http://glowinthedarkaudio.com/zenith-49cz852.html

I don't know what steal is when drivers older than me are bought. The ebay price of $500 for it is insane. 15$ is real. The magnets have long since weakened, the membrane has softened and the suspension has changed. Nobody will convince me that it plays so well. It's just a cheap old driver, there's nothing fancy about it. Even such obscenely expensive ones can serve as a trial. They can probably be sold for the same money (I guess).

I'm in a similar situation as you, also trying to build my end-game speaker with field-coil driver on OB.
In my case it's Sonido SWR 200 FC.
I agree with others, that driver without TS parameters is not about keeping the house secrets, as there are none in such parameters.
It makes whole design process, which could've otherwise been very closely simulated, just blind guesswork.
For example Istvan from Sonido provide TS for different coil currents and will also gladly recommend some designs for his drivers.
Anyway even if the driver is very good for OB use, you can't expect it to play lower than say 100 hz (and without TS it could easily be 300 hz, we don't know).
Even for Jazz and acoustic music, this doesn't work at all.
You would need separate bass drivers. For example I'm going modular, with separate bass cabinets, DSP and multiamp for the start.

You still have the Audio Notes?
I'm driving a pair of AN K/LX in my room ( 20x14x8 feet ). With a pair of DIY Aleph 2s. The sound is very good. I bought them used... found them with HIfiShark. These are a worth upgrade to the AN K/D
Yes, building your own can be very fun... but don't discount buying used. The AN speakers sound very good... although they get pricey very fast. You are paying for the labor and R&D.
I've played them with a Sissy SIT, a 252SIT and MOSFET, A5s, A2s and bridged F4s. They are very good sounding speakers and easy to fit into the room as they like being put against the wall. Currently I got them on 21" Skyline stands. Also got them used.
The AN E SPe/HE is likely gonna cost you a bundle if you buy them new, how about looking for a used one instead? At the very least, I would upgrade from the AN J/D to an LX version. Much nicer cabinet and better sounding.
BTW, who says you can not have two pairs of speakers in your room?
