ScanSpeak 18W8542-10 bass response in ProAc Studio 100 clones

Yes I like this speaker, had the Studio 1 MK2 before. I do have the drivers here now and kind of want to use them as selling and buying others will cost more money.

What else would you suggest? As I am not living in a house and probably won't in the near future, standmounts are preferred.
Sure scan woofer are animals for size ! as write troels you can:
You can place the port to the rear or front.
13 liter volume, Fb = 43 Hz, port = 50 (ID) x 143 mm (use port unchanged)
18 liter volume, Fb = 37 Hz, port = 50 (ID) x 140 mm (use port unchanged)
22 liter volume, Fb = 37 Hz, port = 50 (ID) x 110 mm (cut to 110 mm length)
but I suggest is TL version Studio-101

Fair enough 🙂
Well... I just red about your speakers... and only found some tricky stuff about them, because of the design - which cant really be fixed by a different filter - imo.

They mention that a small amplfier with poor control, can kinda compensate for the less smooth FR. But then I thought you might consider something else.

My suggestion would be something like these:
DXT-MON 182 | Monitor | Referenz-Lautsprecher

I use the same tweeter in my active 3 way speakers, with the same cut on the baffle. They play wonderfully open and clear. I think it's because the design creates this smooth even power response - rather than the typical dip you see, when a big midrange is crossed poorly to a small non waveguided tweeter.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have heard and read about this speaker but never heard it. Might be that I love it, might be not. That is always the thing with speakers you haven't heard yourself before right 😉 I don't want to spend 800 bucks on speakers I might not like in the end and not being able to resell is not exactly an advantage too. If you never heard the Studios, I wouldn't be too prejudiced. One thing is how they measure - totally different to how they sound. But where in Switzerland are you located? Maybe when I come to the south of Austria one day I can pop over the border (now is not a good time I guess, haha) and we have a listening session?! Maybe then your speakers can convince me themselves 🙂

That makes it even stranger that my woofers start playing 70 or 80 Hz (at least feels like it). Thanks for your comment. What do you mean by TL version? So I can use the exact same crossover for 13, 18 AND 22l cabinets? Surprises me!

I live in Denmark 😉
I know that measurements are not everything, but it does tell a lot. Heissmann has many designs.... maybe some of them would fit... and maybe someone closer to you have a pair of his work. But when things lighten up - your welcome - if your ever in these parts 🙂
I hope you get to solve your cross-over issue.... for less than building another speaker. I know less about passives.... since I have been running actives for years. This is where I acquired my knowledge of measuring and building speakers.

Haha, oh sh** I totally confused your flag! Embarrassing 😉 could have guessed from your name though, sounds pretty scandinavian. Probably I thought because you sent me a German page you must be at least German speaking!
Hope I get to listen to one of Heissmans speakers. In case I am going on a holiday to the north in summer I'll let you know!

Thanks, I will for now not spend money until I solved this issue, I think it just takes some more time and patience. Spent already quite some money on parts.

Interesting. I also considered Troels Ekta 2D active speakers. They are surely very good. But I have started building Nelson Pass Class A amplifiers and am really stoked by them. Amazing stuff, have you ever heard? Not sure if a Class D can come close to that. But you never know. Maybe Class D for the summer :-D those things get hot as hell! Which actives did you build or buy for yourself?

TL is the pic i post ,means tramission line Transmission line loudspeaker - Wikipedia
Yes you can the more add more L is relate to bass estension not to xo ,and is simple to add
PS as suggestion up work on reflex port too

Yes I have heard many good things about Transmission Line speakers. Also that it is very difficult to design. Looks doable after all on the picture. Bass control and extension is supposed to be unbeatable on TL speakers if done the right way!

As all love Nelson amp .....I suggest this for you and your music 😉 Faital-3WC

Puh, I am sure it is a great design and speaker but not in my price range at the moment!

No worries 😉
I get inspiration from many different places and would not mind to change horses in the middle of the stream if something much better showed up - well - within limits 😀 I do speak both Danish and English but understand a bit of German too

I use groundsound products:
Ground Sound
Ground Sound
He was first on the market with a good quality DAC/PRE/DSP combo with 8 channels and the amplifiers rock, with both finesse and power.
I then got inspired by Heissmann, to use the DXT as it was the only affordable small good waveguide that is around with a metal dome. Then I use a 5" alu midrange and two 8" SB NRX and four 12" XXLS subwoofers.
With this, I both have a very clear and smooth/even top and a potent, detailed and smooth low end.
