SBA 16 MTM Sealed Variation Build

Hello,

on the pictures my SBA16 MTM...I'm living with them for two years now, they sound great...music is detached from the box, soundstage is big and expand far behind speakers. They sound OK as bass reflex, but also good with closed bass reflex tunnel. Just a little bit thinner, which is for me good thing because now they are in small room....Satori drivers sound unbelievable present and alive...I guess that using MW16p in a large three way you can come very quickly to the ballpark of very expensive commercial speakers...

Yes, Troels doesn't use latest tools to design speakers and doesn't want to give all relevant data out, but few designs which I heard sounded really good...

What he is hiding is completely legitimate. I would do the same in his place. All that work, effort and a lot of time spent must have some kind of meaningful financial background. The crossover for specific speakers according to my opinion for the crossover point 1.7 kHz has 1.5 mH and 8.2 uF in front of the bass and 10 uF and 0.33 mH in front of the tweeter. The resistors are 2.2 and the latter is easily determined when the boxes are assembled, listened to and measured. It's not atomic physics. I don't like two resistors in series without a resistor in parallel with the tweeter and if I were to go for it I would definitely change the position and value of the resistors so that the impedance stays at 4 ohms rather than going towards 8 ohms while the bass stays at 4 ohms . I have read praises for those Satori in several places (now and here) and that they are in the rank of Illuminators. It is being considered. We'll see.

Yes, you should be able to do it at least as well if you do it yourself.
I guess this is a compliment for me?
There are thousands and thousands of self-builders all over the world who know and can create and design speakers like Gravesen, and a lot of them can do it even better. His greatness is not in how many good speaker projects he has designed, but in the fact that he has made DIY a serious business all over the world. How many drivers, capacitors, coils and all other accessories he sold is actually astonishing. And this is known only for those who answered and sent photographs of their works. How many of those who bought it, made it but did not give feedback with pictures? I'm not really impressed by his speakers (although they are all thoughtful and top-quality and top-notch designs), but by the business he's made out of it. Kudos to him.

Are you still liking your MTM speakers? This is one of the Troels designs I’m considering.
