👍 👍Besides the magnets isn't pricey but mine
cost more as I bought the 10 x 30 mm ones. Lesson learned next time buy thinner ones & stack much cheaper. lol
I, too, cannot hear any difference, and I used very good headphones, if I do say so myself.I had a lot of difficulty hearing any differences between your two recordings
My guess is the audio compression used by Youtube is masking the difference. Only @nandappe can say what he hears sitting in front of them.I, too, cannot hear any difference, and I used very good headphones, if I do say so myself.
or.... if he's willing to upload non-compressed recordings we can download and listen to 🤔
I am very interested in the effect of adding magnets to a speaker. A speaker I have been playing with recently is the Monacor sp205/8
This has very small magnet (79g) and a ridiculously high qts (2.7)
Would adding a magnet alter this appreciably?
As it is it can only be used in open baffle, or open back speakers (eg k&t cheap trick 269)

I can't measure the Qts so I don't know how much it changes, but SB10PGC21-4 and BG20 have a clear effect.
Some drivers may or may not benefit from the additional magnets, so it is hard to tell without trying.
Added magnet results: No magnet-qts-1.029, qes-1.132, zmax-37.1ohms
2 magnets-qts-.9183, qes-1, zmax-42.3ohms
3 magnets-qts-.8634, qes-.9352, zmax-45ohms
4 magnets-qts-.8128, qes-.876, zmax-47.9ohms
Magnets were 32mm X 2mm from Amazon, tested on my Dayton WT3. No listening impressions yet.

Thank you for the measurement when you added the magnet.
I can confirm the difference by hearing, but it changes quite a bit by measurement as well.
By the way, I have tried from one to three 30φx2mm magnets, but two of them were well-balanced in my auditory sense.
Had a chance to listen to my Tabaq's with SB10's and added magnets (2). I know these speakers well, been listening to them for a year and a half. The improvement was not subtle, I was pleasantly surprised! Dynamic contrast was better, bass was tighter, overall smoothness seemed better, just a better presentation overall. I would recommend this easy mod to anyone using this driver!

No real surprise there, since you've dropped driver Q / increased its damping (and thereby that of the overall system alignment), which given the high starting point will certainly make the bass sound a little 'tighter' & reduce ringing.
SB10 added magnets and Mod Podge treated dust cap in a 4.4 liter bookshelf. Sounding very nice!
Nice work.
The grain of the wood is beautiful.
any of it took out the distortion peak at 4kHz, by any chance? 🙂
There's no peak at 4 kHz in either the manufacturer's published or measured values.

Looks very nice, are those the pre-made SB grills?SB10 added magnets and Mod Podge treated dust cap in a 4.4 liter bookshelf. Sounding very nice!
that's because there is absolutely no distortion is plotted on your graphs. Only FR and impedance from SBA.There's no peak at 4 kHz in either the manufacturer's published or measured values.
