Doesn't work for me. Windows 7 Pro, SP1. I get this when I try to install the prereqs.
On the off chance that I have the pre-reqs, I instead get this error upon running the program:

Both errors are basically the same, it did not download the required file and then of course it won't install.
What I don't understand is why the two failures each had different directories that they were trying to install from and neither of them is correct.
Are you sure that you were just using the "Install" button on the web page. You cannot use "save as" or any other method. The program will only run on the web site, it cannot be installed locally. If you are trying to do that then it will not work.
For example "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera\temporary_downloads\Modes.application" is not where "Modes.application" is and there is no way that it could ever get there.

Maybe it could be, with Opera as the browser? Looks like a temp folder for Opera to me.
As I said, running this app outside of IE is risky. None of my apps have been stable in other browsers. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
Works here...
Looks like I have close to optimum setup already, unless I'm misinterpretting, this is the smoothest DARK BLACK response I can achieve, which is where my setup is as I have adjusted by ear...
Pre;iminary only... open to suggestions.

30 - 40 hz logs rough, but can't really seem to improve it. Also, room is actually larger than this, and one sub is on a second floor landing midway, which isn't modeled, nor is the slanted ceiling... SOOOO

Alpha is an arbitrary value of absorption on the walls. It is arbitrary because it does not correspond to the alpha of room acoustics. A value of 10 would be a mega amount of absorption - probably unrealistic. 5 would be a lot, 2-3 typical.
John L.
That's a HUGE room. Big rooms are always easy. But why do you listen on the ceiling? I would never listen against a wall. The bass may be better but the HF reflections would be very detrimental.
Are there any filters on the subs? Doesn't look like it.
Can you post the project?

Hi Earl
So not of much use for rooms larger than, say what, 5m x 4m x 3m?? I guess I'm lucky then
Not really right at the back wall... actually about 3 feet out, and that's the best room position on multiple counts. Where's the back wall floor, if I'm on the ceiling??
I guess I'm not clear about the positioning in the 2 views. Which is up ^ down v right > left < in the two views? Didn't seem to make alot of difference until I moved the listening to the center position anyway.
I'll try to redo the model if you can tell me where back wall

Wow! Small values of 2 make a big difference.
How do you interpret the x,y,z values of alpha?
Whenever any (non-web) file is executed, it first needs to be downloaded. I just clicked "run" when the download dialog popped up for Modes.application.Both errors are basically the same, it did not download the required file and then of course it won't install.

The coordinate system is basically left handed, with the origin in the top left hand corner. (This is the computer graphics standard.) The left block is the floor plan and the right block the elevation with the left side being the floor and Z going from left to right.
The X, Y and Z alphas are the absorption on the two YZ walls, XZ walls and XY walls (floor and ceiling). In this model the absorption on opposing walls is averaged. A future Mod will be to have each wall independent.

And you still get the same error message?
I don't know how to fix that since it is unique to your computer. Perhaps some protection settings?
server down
That's odd, its not my server, but on a web farm. I have never seen the server down before. Saturday evening was a mess on the web. I could not seem to stream anything without dropouts.
Closer to what I hear
Thanks Earl, for the clarification....I'm no longer hanging from the ceiling.. 😉😉
Here's where I'm at:

by moving sub#3 directly under sub#1, I made an improvement. I also set the alpha x,y to 1.5, as there are 3 sofas, alot of rugs, and all sorts of absorption throughout the room. Suckout @ ~80hz, but it's sharp, so not too worried

Markus - we've been over this. No program based on a rectangular room with no furniture is going to be very accurate. What would the point of a comparison be if one knew that going in?
John
If that room is as large as it looks, then the ceiling height would have to be on the order of 25-30 feet. Is that realistic? You realize that this is all in meters not feet.

So what's the point of a simulation if there's no good correlation to reality?
