Remote Control for the BPBP

Hello,
It seems i got another bug. It doesn't do it every time but i get it 3-4 times, when i start the maya their is no sound, i have to switch to another channel and go back to get sounds.

Regards

Hi , I cannot replicate this and make no sense about this, as I set every time on power on all the same.

Please see an android variant firmware for your BPBPP Maya , please use old version of android app, the one without BLE to connect .First you need to associate bluetooth.passwd 1234.
Please feedback to me.

Hello,
Thank you for this firmware, i can use the app again !

I have some info about this bug. It seems to be related to the BPBP's relay, and appear only when i didn't power the unit for some time. Today when i came back home i took my phone to make a video in case the problem show again. I start the maya and their was no sound, also i didn't hear the "click" sound of the relay at power up. I switch back to channel two and go back to one and their was sound again. I can up the video if you need it.

I then try to power on several time my unit to reproduce, but it work every time, so i guess the problem only show at the first power on, when the unit is "cold". Maybe the BPBP's relay is faulty ?

I just upgrade the new firmware so i will see if the problem keep shows up.

Edit : another thing, i just watch the video i do when the bug occur. It seems their also no "click" sound when i switch to channel 2. The problem is i start recording after powering up the maya, so i'm not sure their was or wasn't a "click" on startup. It's like the maya go to channel two on startup but the firmware still think it is channel 1 or something. I will try again to make a complete video tomorow when my unit is "cold".

Regards

The Maya has no influence over the relay, the powersupply to it does. My guesses:
  • Powersupply under 12 Volt at startup. I found that Feeding the HXR regulators close to the minimal voltage (Eg 2x12V) gives all kinds off problems at startup, including latching opamps which distort. I switches to a 2x13V and no problems since then.
  • Charging of the PS-caps influences the correct working of the transistor which switches the relay
  • Funky relay

Thank you for this answer. I am already using 2x13v, and strangely this problem never occur before, only when i update to maya 1.7. I will keep trying to make a decent video of it, if the problem show up again.

Some interesting module with VFD that work with Maya using Russian tube IV-11 as display :

From the schematic (attached) my understanding is that RE7 is driven by the PCF8574AT, just like the other relais. I presume that they are all the same voltage?
The BOM is correct.
RE7 should be a GCK-2P, also a 5V relay with a different footprint.

The problem seems to be that the IM23TS will only be available as from febr 2020.
You could use the IM03TS instead, but that relay consumes more current.
Because of that the PCF8574AT has to be replaced by a PCA8574D (not the AD !) which ca supply 400mA instead of 200mA.

Thanks, Hans. I think I was just in time to change the order. 🙂 RS-online's webshop says that IM23TS will be available by end of Feb-19. Let's see...

By the way: why does the BOM on your dropbox say "7 pcs" of the IM23TS? It looks like the PCB only has room for 6.

Ha, ha, you're right there should be 6 instead of 7, I never noticed before.
Hope that RS can supply, but Farnell can not before 2020 !!
