Reflektor-D builds

Reflektor for subbu dac 2.6

Here is my Reflektor-D for a subbu dac v2.6 . Used big heatsinks and R1=1ohm. It is getting quite hot with that setting so im gonna swap it with with some higher value resistor. It sounds fantastic. 🙂 Kudos to Salas for the reflektor design and to Jean-Paul and Subbu for their dac

Nice pics. Vintage Black Gate from deep in the cellar I see 😀

The Subbu does not burn too much itself so most of your 600mA goes to the output sink. I have one too. Its a very nice sounding simple DAC for coax Toslink. Try 1.5R to 2R range CCS setting resistor too. But in good quality again as is your original.

It will also be a better CCS setting for ripple with your (3300uF?) reservoir capacitor (see post #815). Only 3cm thick enough wires in two wire conventional arrangement should practically do the same job as Kelvin.

Is it really 0.85V Vbe (residual/2)? Measure b-e of your BC560s in circuit. If yes it seems much. When you don't run excessive current through them but 2-5mA that is. Is it not your output Mosfet low Vgs TTL type as specified maybe ?

What happens I think is the high Vgs you got (its across R6) compares nearly to your Vout and the right side of the mirror runs much current. You may try confirm that with measuring mA between the led and ground by lifting its cathode pin and connecting it through the meter in series to gnd.
It may work with that IRL type because logic level 1V min Vgs (th) but don't keep it because it has huge parasitic capacitances also i.e. it will compromise the spec a lot. Use it until you get the VL.

didiet78, I am successfully using IRL530 as a shunt element:
http://www.irf.com/product-info/datasheets/data/irl530.pdf

It has low enough Rds,on (rated 0.16Ω at 5V Vgs) and gate treshold voltage is in the 1.0V-2.0V range. Additionally it is available locally and is comparatively cheap.

The only available logic level mosfet locally just irl3803. Irlz24 out of stock. 🙁
Maybe i will use BiB with Bjt for now until i find out mosfet
