Yep. Probably keeps some LT or LM regs inside that is not playing hard to get with another on board regulator.
With BiB never got any problem, with Reflektor only problem when changed DIP switches trying to avoid DC offset following Russ White TP advice.
Very tough! Did you try jumper S+F+ and S0F0 in pairs to have it two wire normal mode so it maybe does not mind? Or you need more CCS? How high was the BIB CCS?
In oscillation issues everything plays a role and its usually bad luck finding the exact resonance. Output caps, input ditto, cable length etc. A one ohm resistor can stop it. If it isnt internal oscillation in the BIII. The SSLV is pretty well protected.
Yes I tried two wires but same problem with Reflektor-D and BIII. I don't remember exactly but the BiB CCS was near 600-650mA.
You can go down to 0.75R R1 (1.5//1.5) on the REF-D but I propose not to push it more. Since those switches combination managed to make a bench PSU smoke and blow a fuse it is not something we can further try solve from our side.
Is it working with expected SQ also? I.e. that issue is completely solved?
Yes, working with excellent SQ, fixed the BIII DC offset, AVC sounds also excellent with DSD & PCM.
Recently completed Reflektor-D (.7A CCS @ 5.25V). Running well into the 60's with the stock cover on, so I did this... About 10C cooler now. This is on my Buffalo 2 dac, ~555mA load.
Clever solution for a non perforated at the location top cover. Maybe a round metal mesh will make it look even nicer there now.
