Reference DAC Module - Discrete R-2R Sign Magnitude 24 bit 384 KHz

Hi Soren,

I am sorry if it has been confusing you and I understand you are in a very busy atmosphere.

I have sent the first email as per your written T&C in the receipt where: “...Soekris Europe recommends that you contact our support via mail (support@soekris.eu) before sending the product to Soekris Europe....”.

Nil return and I have no choice to send the second email to info@soekris.eu few days after...

Likely you may wish to revise the T&C if this is the case, thanks again.

Positive rail draw more current according to spec. Maybe you don't have enough on the + rail?

The BP seem to have a somewhat complicated setup - maybe redo all the settings?

http://www.twistedpearaudio.com/docs/power/placid_bp_manual_2_1_2.pdf

1021:

Power Consumption
Positive Rail: 0.18A @ 10V
• NegativeRail:0.06A@10V
• Total:2.4W
• The positive supply draw about 3 times as much current as the negative; the current is
almost independent of input voltage.

@soekris, I have had issues since 2015 with latch up of K136 opamp (TS507?) on startup with my REV1 DAM1021 board. I ended up working around this issue at the time by removing the 6k resistor that connects to the UC mute pin and adding a 20K resistor to pull the pin of the 3FW48 mute control transistor to V+. As I have a downstream mute relay this seemed to work well however I have had persistent issues with random loss of lock (on any input). I discovered last night the the now unconnected UC mute pin is acting like an antenna - touching it with a probe connected to my finger inhibits lock.

So I am interested in looking to fix this properly now and reinstall uC control of mute. If I was to replace the K136 opamp in an attempt to cure the latch up issue what would you suggest? I notice from board photos that OPA317 and I think OPA365 have been installed in its place in later revisions.

I assume it's U2 you're talking about, down in the corner around J8, shouldn't really latchup, but certain powerup sequence on positive and negative rail could do it.... If you want to replace it, use either a opa317, tlv333 or ncs333. Do not use an opa365 there.

Hi soekris according to miska the HQplayer developer:
Due to challenges with settling time you really cannot run high-bit R-2R DAC at rates like 3.2 MHz in a sensible way, it would lose lot of the precision because for each sample value it wouldn’t be able to accurately reach the correct level fast enough. More there are bits, more precisely the output voltage also needs to settle because the voltage steps are smaller.

Just curious but how did you solve this problem with your DAC?

Thanks for response, TNT. I always use Raw output, with volume knob at 10 o'clock position for normal listening. But yesterday I set it at Max position, output level is same as 9 o'clock of normal condition.
Already check my amplifier with other source, and it is ok.
