Rate my AI crossover for SB monitor. Claude Ai

That is more or less exactly what I said in post 24.
If you did, I did not understand. You wrote:
What of course is needed as input is a set of files: the relevant .zma files of the drivers and SPL measurements
I don't see any mention of the box or baffle. But it's all good if we agree.🙂

@mbrennwa do you mean real measurements or simulation’s.
Measurements. Real ones. For me, getting good measurements of the real world is easier than getting mediocre model predictions.

The next AI inquiry will search the Internet and get resources which were copied and pasted in this forum from the previous AI result.
Infinite loop processing same things.

Does AI know if something was generated by itself?
And what about material generated by another AI?

not be called AI...

We have no AI. The best machine learning tools are really decent Idiot Savants, sifting thru zillions of possibilities or scaryt amounts of data tosift out stuff thru “tuning” brute force.

What this “AI” does is gather available info from the internet and regurrgitate something. Seems to give a reason\anable answer about 50% of the time … it will get better, but at the moment, these tools are still very much at the “human’s potty training” phase.

In essence irrespective what "intelligence" in the future will exist there should be safety that exclusive interaction with humans is possible if desired.

I see this violated by the use of bots on the web giving false impressions.

All accelerated use of AI never follows an informed debate or consent by society.

@Scottmoose can I go and tell my robot overlord he got a D- on his homework and he has some improving to do?

As my goals of designing a decent XO by cheating with chatbots who pretend to be intellectuals, would anyone up for designing me a crossover for the drivers mentioned a few times? Troels has a design using these drivers but, the transducers impedance is different (as I got them cheap on eBay) and I don't love his box design with stepped baffle.

I'll check back in with some of the models in a few months when they have evolved. I guess unsubscribe from the thread if you are not looking forward to a world without the working class...

No, for the reasons I gave above: we need to know how the drivers operate in the box / on the baffle, both in the electronic and acoustic domain. Without these data it is impossible to design a decent x-over for your loudspeaker system.

It's a bit like if you provide a set of tires to an engineer and ask him to design a suitable engine.

Which drivers, specifically, and what enclosure? I may have some in my store & be able to make up a test baffle of the correct dimensions. But I'd need to know exactly what, or making it up & measuring would be worthless.

Shortcuts on this are generally not great -as I say, it comes down to design goals, what you're doing & how much you want to make it work.

I have a nice stacked birch ply curved cabinet that was originally designed around Erics design, but I have taken out the port. So it's just a sealed (16.5l?) box of similar dimension. Think Magico mini.

But it might be easier to make an enclosure to spec. Ideally small as feasible.

Drivers:
Tweeter (TW29DN-B-8 Ohms) or TW29R-4 Ohms (I have both on hand)
Midwoofer (MW19P-4 Ohms)

Troels has a design using 4 ohm and 8 ohm drivers...with the parts available from Jantzen, but aesthetically I don't love the stepped baffle.

Thanks Scott. What other treats do you have in your Aladins store!? Need anymore drivers, I am having a clear out soon.

I had made this box up originally to stick some 450Hz LeCleach horns on top with this just for a woofer so might not be remotely suitable. Stacked birch ply, haven't made the baffles yet. SketchUp says the sealed internal volume is 16L. I had thought about using the MW19 for this purpose and getting a smaller SB unit to make up a Kairos or Ara box design as someone else has done the design work.

If I can use them great, if not ill save them for my rainy day horn project.
