Maybe. I took a deep look from all angles with additional light, but nothing to be seen....the panel is fixed solid to the frame, nothing rattling, nothing falling out .....
Hi, I am new here. I have exactly the same problem. Did you find any solution yet? Can you give me any advice? Nice wishes from Vienna
Turns out the coating of one panel was faulty. I sent it to the repair guy and it is working fine now..... can you describe your issue a little more?
Hi, thanks for your help. Last year I had the panels of my SEL 988 refurbished, everything was ok. After a few months I played music a little louder and one speaker shut down (protection). Then this speaker did work but never again played on the same level as the other one. On the good one I measured 4100 Volt, no leakage. On the bad one I measured 4500 Volt, also without leakage (the neon bulb is flashing every 30 - 35 seconds). I disconnected the triac to verify that this part is not causing the lack of volume. What do you think, might the reason for the malfunction be a bad delay coil? Thanks again!
Chech the input resistor and the electrolytic cap.
Never heard about failure there. But when the protection is going in and you have a power amp that delivers current, then everything can happen.

Since you have 988's, you can pretty easily swap bases from speaker to speaker. If the problem follows the base you know it's electronics in the base, otherwise you need to look at your delay lines and panels
