Pumpkin preamp - ordered by Steen , official making thread

More I meant not a specific tecnology, but how to allow people to post OT without ruining a good thread , such as a pumpkin thread.
One possibility is to make it possible to label a post as OT , either by the poster or by multiple people clicking in a box near the post that it is OT. Then have a button that when cliclked , shows only the posts which are on topic and hides the OffTopic posts.

I assume that having a Pumpkin Off Topic thread in an OT forum doesn't work? A thread that various members can just post about Ot stuff?

is it possible to make few things , functional in same time :

1. off topic button for part of text in post (same functionality as "bold" button" )
2. off topic button for entire post ; functional either for original poster , or/and Mod , or/and minimum of 3 multiple confirmations
3. general "hide/show OT on page " button

regarding :Pumpkin: OT thread ( this one , exactly) - if you want and think it's smart - maybe you can unlock other one , serious thread ( certainly result of your great effort ) , rename this one in something pretty hysterical and leave it here (for fun) or move to OT part of forum ......
I feel cozy here in Paforum , same as in OT one 😉

whatever you choose to do , I think that OT Mob will obey ..... and post in serious :Pumpkin: thread only tech related things :clown:

can we have one official OT thread , here in Paforum ..... please :rofl:
maybe this one ,renamed ?

and , I would not call you Nemo ..... even with Steamboat looking amps ....

edit :

I really realize that some ppl are distracted with "unrelated junk" which is often part of some serious threads ; but , I think that we both share same awareness how important is relaxed human communication ....... so , I know that you have only good and practical intentions ;
I hope that we'll find some practical solutions regarding that ...

ON THREAD MESSAGE MAYBE.

but the only one who has absolutely no knowledge here

Manu - I dispute this. I fit into this category as well. Let me prove it.

:xeye:

ZM got my boards from way across the lands to my house. Very nice.

To prove my ignorance-
Cook Book discusses gain default of 10x with 10K/100K resistors. I assume this is 10db gain from my limited math skills.
Running an assumed balanced F4 mono's into lowthers, I dont think I need too much gain - right now using about 9db on DCX2496 POS. If I say want from 10x to 4.7 gain - is this DB? I asseme then C1 goes to 25pf?

Any advice on a good starting point for gain would be nice.😀 😀

in that case , as you can already see in Cook Book - you need ratio of
R6/R3 and R5/R1 to be same as you'r needed gain

so - to have gain of 4,7 (13,44db) , and to preserve input resistance of 10K/20K ........ you just need to change values of R6 and R5 to 47K

to maintain same RC multiple in feedback comp , just double values of both C1 and C2 ; everything in range of 8p2-10p will be OK .

use mica or styroflex ;

and - yup - gain is (in this case ) A=20(log(R6/R3)) [db]

and corner frequency for feedback comp. is
1/(2 x Pi x R6 x C2) ~ 320KHz

if you're driving ( and I suppose you do) your F4 with muscular preamp , you can even omit some things on input ;

do that to your own risk :clown:

choky:

what are the pros and cons of the crippled F4, besides not having to match JFETs? 🙂 In other words, why should I be your Papa new guinea pig?

cons - none
pros - almost none , if you don't count satisfaction that you does something which Papa don't

:clown:

seriously - one stage less ..... you can even omit output caps on Pumpie output ; but be sure that big caps on crippled F4 are empty before connecting signal vables
