A5.2/3, A7/11ms.Aren’t some Mark Audio drivers without spiders?
dave
I echo everything said above, about designing something to fit the requirements, rather than cloning this exact arrangement of drivers and baffle layout.
In terms of drivers, I think you can do what you propose with a 4-way speaker, which will share the general layout and principles you listed in your first post, if not exactly the characteristics of the fancy new driver discussed above. I don't see any reason to go more 'ways' than:
t25
m74
2 x PTT6.5X08-NAA-08
4x or 8x dayton rss265 or scanspeak 26w/8534
Honestly though, in a medium-size living room, if you dropped the subwoofers, and replaced the PTT6.5s with the new PTT8.0 woofers, I can't imagine needing more output for anything but home theater at high levels.
Is this an interesting paper design exercise? If you were to actually build it, you'd be spending a lot of money for SPL capability in the subs that would likely never be used in the room you described. To my mind, a design like this makes more sense in a large space, possibly open-concept, or using more modestly priced drivers for the subwoofer side of things.

They have been being created for decades, just not all that successfully....they created as far as I know, the first spiderless midrange drivers...
The MA Alpair 5 was probably the first modern one, not all that great, the ferro-fluid nixed it when the EU banned it due to the ferro fluid. About 5 years ago the much, much improved A5.2 was released.
It is a really decent (bass limited) FR, a superb midTweeter (and as such midrange).
dave
Jordan did not like spiders, he did a number of alternatives. But the A5 (was the Jordan J6T before it was A5) was the first with none (except the ferrofluid). Took Mark a decade to figure out how to do it without the ferrofulid.I linked to one, there's some Jordan's too I believe, either in past or present.

I certainly understand the appeal of headroom, but when using drivers like the purifis that are so clean near their limits, it really is just unused capacity at some point. It's easy enough to model a pair of the 8" woofers to see what the actual limits would be, or what 'lesser' subwoofers in sets of 8 it would take to meet the SPL requirement while staying within 1/2 or 1/3 xmax.
Hello Haraldo
I have listened to this speaker you fell in love with and looked it up closely since I found the construction to be very interesting... the drivers layout and the integration of glass.
I didn't imagine the price to be so high! Alas, the hifi world really gone mad 😪
I was unimpressed with the presentation at the show, (maybe show conditions to blame)
Yet I do not want to discourage you, I simply believe you can do better.
Thx for you input @noamgeller .... it may very well be that the Audio Physic guys really don´t know how to demo their own stuff..... I heard the Audio Physic products play heaps better when demoed by their Norwegian dealership, compared to what they do....
I was at the original launch of Audio Physic Cardeas Plus+ provided by Dieter Kratochwil and another guy (don´t remember his name).... it is my impression they had no idea what they were doing when demoing the speakers, I would be able to do the demo much better myself if I had free hands with the setup.....
I love small standmount speakers that integrate well and provide that magic, it´s just the case that I really also in addition want that insane speaker that scales .... with zero limits .... I like to switch speakers based on the mood 🤣
@morbo IMHO it´s not only about the headroom, it´s simply also about having enough membrane area, it´s also how the soundwave is propagated, and in some areas more surface area provides more "grandness", in lack of a better word..... I think 🤔
And maybe I can do better 🤔
(with the help of good friends)

Drivers are too far apart for it to be a point source… so it fails on that point. And little care to diffraction is strange.
dave
Yea, not true point source, absolutely agree, but somewhat close to point source, but not fully 🤔
A coax in the center would work, but then you'd call it a Kef model 😀.
I thought of that and Seas does some nice ones ...
And there´s also this one: Sica 5.5 C, I think it´s the one Sigberg Audio uses in their new monitor
still .... It´s not a KEF and I am NOT Jack Oclee-Brown 🤣
You can have other approach than Kef's one (well it is difficult to tell 'one' as they have as many approach as there is 'quality level' in their range).
I have thoughts about some since i commited on a pair of SP1753. The wait is difficult, one or two weeks still... but it's creative time as well.
Haraldo, i think Fluid is brewing something with the SICA atm. Yummy. And documented!

Audio Physic Medeos, diffractions tell them nothing. Even visually, the square cabinet is ugly.
Take the example of the Technics SB M10000 from 1995.

I just heard from an Audio Physic reseller that he thinks those guys have zero idea on how to do demos
But still they make pretty good loudspeakers, and I double that....
And I also heard from same source that currently Audio Physic has a real hard time eqaliing what Joachim Gerhard did with the same brand decades ago, especially with Medea.... so much for progress? 🤔
(By the way, Medea cabinets employed Panzerholz)
And I am not sure I like Audio Physic new style with square cabinets and glass on top 🤔
However there are some interesting ideas from DIY´ers perspective, IMHO 😎

I am very happy to see that you are not completely decided on Audio Physic... since I have a better simpler idea 💡.And I am not sure I like Audio Physic new style with square cabinets and glass on top 🤔

...
What about this small tiny diy project for start 🤔
I will be there to help moving the sofa a few meters!

cool idea @noamgeller, but I am not sure it´s big enough 🤔
I never made horns work that well for me, there always seem to be this effect "Tom Waits singing into a megafone", that does not work so well to me unless I am listening to the song where Tom Waits is actually singing into a megafone....
Two of the ideas at least from my side is: Go big or go home, It must look like a piece of modern art
I was touching on the ideas of some of the Troels Gravesen dedisngs, but they look too much like DIY, square ugly boxes again...

Here is some shots of where I am at the moment
Audio Physic Avanti III
A pair of Duntech PCL-15 studio monitors at hand (need driver replacements)
4 x Audio Physic Rhea II
Trinnov Amethyst preamp
Adyton Cordis 1.8 Signature poweramp
Krell KAV400-XI amplifier at hand, if needed....
Studer A727 CD Player
Auralic G1 streamer
Audio Technical XT-LP140 turntable with Ortofon black cartrdidge
Self-made bass traps, up to 60 cm on deepest point
Lots more acoustic stuff coming in, also full-height bass trap on left, killing first freflections on sidewalls, hanging absorbers in ceiling, and more .... 🙂
All speakers and subs hard spiked onto stone plates
Stone plates isolated with Valhalla tech pads, resonance around 5 to 7 Hz
As you can see, I am very subscribed to "Joachim Gerhard style" speaker setup, I tried a lot of moving around and this is what works best to me 🙂

Imagine the horror of him shouting at me with a megaphone 📣😳😐
@haraldo
First of all, you a beautiful setup, congratulations on that 👏😀
If I was to consider cloning a beautiful slender loudspeaker yet very capable speaker.... it would be the Verity Audio. Very high waf and extremely good sonic wise.

Thx a lot for your kind words, highly appreciated 🙂
Maybe you would be able to build cabinets for me "to order" @noamgeller ?
I seen what you do and even the best commercial designs is hardly better looking than what you do 😍
There are some guys around here building cabinets but I am not happy with the finishing
@noamgeller and @wesayso, you guys are on a completely different planet 😎
I been to a Tom Waits concert in Prague.... nothing scary about it 😎

It's been a few years now that I'm following not only the sonics at munich but also the fit and Finnish... and what do you know 😏 only few companies really are pushing the boundaries with their exceptional attention to detail. Tidal from Germany probably getting the crown. Audio Physic just kind of made a shortcut with the glass panels. You see, you can apply color on the backside of the glass as poorly as you want, it will look perfect from the front side 😉.
I done that many times... so... 160k.... and they stick glass panels?? Ho well... but please no offense 🙏, it was honestly my first thought when I saw those speakers.
About building you the enclosures 🤔
Sure! Why not? But I'm stuck first with a TL2 that I have to Finnish. That will take a while
