Cranked it, not a sign of the slightest problem. I had it loud enough to be painful and it still sounded great- I was listening for the pass transistors to saturate at high current and add hum to a high-level signal, and there was no sign of it. It doesn't drop out any more, either.
And as a bonus, I had a turn-on thump problem which is now just gone. Apparently the slower start as the base drive comes up is just enough to take care of it.
