Power amp under development

Hi ostripper,

I have tried both ways (in 2 different projects) but I really feel much better with the flat-back device rather than the TO-92 as the thermal tracker. Anyway I might share your purchase of the 2SC1567? Its like impossible to get uncommon part in here.

bigpanda,
I agree with you generally,
I would use TO-126 for thermal duties.

Now, amplifiers are different. No 2 amps are the same.
So, I would not say TO-92 to try temp compensation is no good.
I say, most cases, TO-126 would be my choice, if possible.

Qausi , the way it looks I'd have to give you a part of that only..
my amps are looking like 80%quasi ,10% ampslab, and 10%
aska...🙂

P.S. If I DID make them commercially would I have to give you
royalty?? (purely hypothetical question.)

You are a good negotiator. Ok 80% of $1M it is.

These amps are in the public domain, sales of which will be frowned upon. Anyway sales of this sort of stuff is more about good marketing based upon perceived value and perceived quality rather than actual quality and value.

Cheers

Oh yeah, I forgot , you are a salesman ! I would only do as you
and build them for other picky audiophiles ,just joking with
my mention of a commercial venture.

BTW, I tried the BD139-10 in BOQ* , it is a near perfect match
to BD546 and 2sc1567 (80-100v/HFE100-200).
🙂

Tommorrow I plan on etching my new Quad Qausi (4x260)boards.
I cant wait to see how a big mosfet amp sounds, will post
pix of the completed work within 24 hours.

As far as perceived quality ,give me a break.Your amp just replaced Walmart junk sony powered sub.(No quality)
In america these days all is junk, no more competition, just
WALMART. Friends came over and they were used to the
normal system ,, hit the remote...cups fell off tables-lights
flickered (only120vac 15A breakers here, must give the
stereo quasi it's own separate service).
Not perceived but real quality !!!

P.S. for HT its like its like trading a toyota for BMW.

We are lucky to be building at the quality level that has been
so kindly provided in this thread. I have scoured the web in search of new ideas and see a lot of DIY MOSFET kits of
substandard quality. http://www.e-electronica.es/en/diy-audio-kits-23/diy-amplifiers-26/ This amp has no heatsinking on VAS
or drivers..Strange circuit ,current mirror in VAS(Quasi/symasym
hybrid) cascodes, standard VBE(mounted on output ,like mine).

In my opinion all flavors of quasi amp are a better bet than
any commercial kit i've seen except aussieamps.com(way too
expensive.)

Hey, Quasi ..why no cascodes on LTP and why did you choose to
use current mirror instead???

Hi

I went to vendor and found the BD139 but that was China's made. He gave me another substitute that is SC1383.What do you guys think of that for T8/which one should I use?

Regards

The 2SC1383 has a different case to the BD139. The reason some constructors like the TO126 package is becuase it offers a mounting screw hole. The 2SC1383 does not.

Look for a lower power NPN transistor in a TO126 case with a reasonable gain. Almost anything will do (not darlington).

Hi

Thanks for the reply Quasi. What about 2SC2911 or 2N5657 both are NPN and in TO126 case?
