just finished my headphone amp. It was planned as a kind of "practice amp", before the voltage on the rails gets higher…
Preamp with LM4962, symm. input, -12dB/-6dB/0dB selector, Baxandall volume control.
The amp section is made with discrete components only, BC846B, BC856B, MJE243, MJE253 and some chicken feed 🙂
So far, so happy 🙂 No noise in the headphones, no hum, no ground loops, no audible distortion (~0,005%, 10Vrms, 1kHz), clean sound with a wide stage... drives everything from 16R to >600R headphones. It's the upgraded SMD version from a pure THT version before.
Making your own gear is pure fun 🙂
